I think this thread was about what mr Robertson said about Haiti. Not about his charity work. If we cannot judge his statements fairly just because he has done some charity work, unselfish or not, then we should maybe sit down for a while and think.


So did Hitler and Stalin. Gave people in need just what they needed. You have to get the point here. If the man is really such a guardian angel as he seems to be to his followers, then his hate speeches are even more dangerous than if it just came from the dude from the street corner. To me it is not what some charity man with a softened head says, but his ability to spread the message of hate to thousands, maybe more.

i guess a better way of putting it is "let him that is perfect cast the first stone"
comparing him to hitler and stalin is a far, far stretch as he has NOT killed thousands or millions of people. just made a stupid remark that killed no one and basically only hurt his own standing to others. no one is taking up arms to kill anyone over his remark.
no one is perfect, it is just because he is in the spot light that makes it even worse.
where is the tolerance the left keep talking about?
i do not want to be in the position of defending him, just asking a question about a mans good compared to his bad, any man.(not just left or right. Christian or atheist)

Thanks for your comment. I should have been more exact about what i wrote. I didn't mean to compare Mr Robertson to those wackos in the means what bad they did to people, but my point was that those same beasts did some amount of charity and good things also, specially on the early days when they were in power. Before they got over the top. It is not about defending those two wackos. Bad people are capable of doing good things too. That doesn't mean we should tolerate their idiotic acts or hate speeches. It is not about throwing first stones either.

I'm not so called leftists, and usually my way of having tolerance is just ignoring stupid leaders and their talks. However this thread was about Mr Robertson, so i just told what i think. I would do the same with any religious or political leader, be it right or left, Christian, Muslim, Atheist or whatever.

like i said we all make mistakes and our deeds should count for something. on the other hand if pat robertson and danny glover(on the other thread) keep making blunders, then it is true that all of the good they have done will be overshadowed forever.
