Those people make me sick. They came through the bay area not too long ago, and were drowned out by other people who showed up with signs.
Unfortunatly, you are going to a funeral, not to actually protest them so the above tactics aren't really appropriate. I am deeply sorry for you, the family who lost their son, and all those who will be respectfully attending the funeral.

Wow. These people are freaks. Sure wish I could be there myself.
I hope the family will be able to have some privacy.

There's a documentary by Louis Theroux on Youtube on that group, "The Most Hated Family in America" which is well worth a watch if you're interested in these strange, strange people. He gently nails them in a deceptively sharp manner. (Edit. Removed embedding.)
Sorry for your loss, wv. Try not to let them get to you, much easier said than done.Last edited by AlanII; 06-22-2010 at 06:32 AM.

Thanked: 13245WVLoony I salute you and the fine members of the Patriot Guard that block these people from the sight of the family and friends of a Fallen American Soldier...
I myself could not do it, I am just not that civilized nor tolerant, but at least I realize it, so that is a step in the right direction...

The same thing happens in the UK. The vast majority of us support the military and are deeply saddened and angered by the people that feel the need to protest in this manner.
It's ironic, but we are fighting to preserve the rights of people to enjoy free speech and to be disrespectful and tactless should they so desire. This freedom has to extend to everyone.
When we decide to join the military and fight it's vital to understand that not everyone on the planet believes in the same values that we hold dear and that there are some that will hate us for it.
The best way to treat these people is not to react to them, by reacting to them you accord them an importance that they don't deserve.'Living the dream, one nightmare at a time'

They came here to Gainesville not too long ago. It wasn't for a funeral but rather because we elected a gay mayor.
A while back one of their protests was met with counter-protesters who mocked their church with ridiculous signs and effectively nullified them. Since the results were so positive this tactic has taken off, and sure enough, students and Gainesville residents made silly signs and protested along with them:

Unfortunately this probably wouldn't help anything during a funeral.
