Default protesters at a soldiers funeral

if any of the members here are close to broadway va tommorrow, and believe me we are gonna need some assistance. the crazies from the westboro baptist church are planning to protest at the funeral of spc bucky anderson. bucky was killed in afganistan 2 weeks ago, and is being laid to rest tommorrow. I am friends with his father, and am myself a vet, so to be at the funeral is something i feel the need to do, but those sorry *(&^#&R%'s have no right to be. now dont get me wrong, i know that they have a legal right to protest, but why cant they just keep there insanity in kansas where there from.

I'm not near VA... nor am I much of a protestor (or anti-protestor protestor). But what are they going to be protesting? Or what are you protesting?

A soldier's funeral - or any funeral for that matter - ought to be treated with respect and isn't the proper venue for a protest...

These idiots have been making trouble around here for years on end, they need to be air dropped into Iraq or Afghanistan and practice their brand of Christianity there! Just my honest opinion. It is extremely hard for me to believe that they worship the same Jesus that said "I did not come into the world to judge the world, but to save it.".

i myself am not protesting, these people show up at soldiers funerals with signs that say thank god for ied's, and the like, they use a military funeral to espouse there radical extreme beliefs of christianity. they believe that a soldiers death is due to the fact that god is punishing this country for homosexuality. their website gives more information

Thanks for the clue... Google fleshed it out.

This is pretty sick stuff here. I saw a clip from Hannity & Colmes and some of the picket signs. The things going through my head aren't fit to write here. I know enough about christianity that this isn't christianity - it's some perversion of it. It seems strange that we allow folks to say hate-filled stuff like this, but I guess it's just one of the "cons" of free speech.

I hope the soldier's family can have their peace during this tough time and these protestors don't cause too much trouble.

well the patriot guard it going to be onhand, and if im not in with the guys from work, i will be with them, one or the other. I really cant explain why, but this young mans death, and the funeral have struck a cord in me, more so than when my close friend in pa was laid to rest. all i can say is i do feel honors to be attending, for more reasons than i can explain.

The members, almost all of which are part of the extended family of the man that started it, are some of the sickest human beings on the planet. Look them up on YouTube and try to not become violently angry. I'm all for freedom of speech, but the insanely sick things they say against innocent people put me at wit's end.

As an example, I can almost guarantee that they'll somehow correlate the man's death with homosexuality (or "fag" as they put it), and condemn him to hell, with signs reading "God Hates Fags" and how everyone should be happy that another "fag" was killed by "the hand of God" or some other such non-sense.

In my opinion, though, the most insane part of it all is the fact that they actually make their children -- not even old enough to understand the words on the sign -- hold these hate symbols up in the air and scream the message. To me, this is child abuse and every single one should be taken from the hands of these demonic people.

How can they even chase down these peoples' funerals and picket all these things, any way? The only members of the church, as I said, are members of the family, and none of them seem to work! The daughter of the nasty old man is a lawyer, but she apparently doesn't practice any. Someone needs to audit these sickos...

Sorry, threadstarter, these people really get me riled up and I'd like to say a lot more, but I think the mods would ban me.

By the way, if you truly want to see who is behind this monstrosity, look up "Nate Phelps" on YouTube. He's the son of the church's owner, Fred Phelps. He goes into great detail about what a hateful, violent, abusive father he had and how he brainwashes all the children from a very early age; other children that left the family will corroborate the father's authoritarian behavior.

Good luck, just try to ignore them...
