(I don't travel often, and hate to fly, but I only have about a 50% success rate with that airport) Surprisingly, the airport set up a lot of cots for the stranded travelers. Within 20 minutes about a third of the cots were occupied but by that point EVERY single pillow and blanket on unoccupied cots were gone. That's right, those who had already claimed cots for themselves helped themselves to 2, 3, even 4 blankets and pillows, ignoring that this meant those who came for cots later, and they did, would be left without pillows or blankets.

I couldn't stay in the area. It infuriated me that people would behave so thoughtlessly to each other. I envisioned myself yelling at the entire crowd telling them exactly what kind of excretory orifices they were.

I remember something my grandmother said a long time ago well before she died. She said that she was glad that she was going to die when she was, because she did not like the way people are becoming. I think I'm finally beginning to agree with her.
    Utopian,

Just reading your story made my blood boil. I would not have been able to sleep there either.

You know, last week you and I had a perspective and maybe even factual disagreement on scything. The conversation took place respectfully, intelligently and courteously. We did not agree and shook hands. Period. No name calling. No insults. Just gentlemanly disagreement.

THAT my friend is why I stay here.

    Yours Truly,

One thing I don't get in the reporting is that he would be considered to be a hero by us regular mortal "folks".

I can imagine a bluegrass folk tune whipped up, a comical one, but not flattering to him as a hero.

I get it that you have to swallow many of your real feelings when dealing with the public......hero by this folk, no way.

    Agreed.
I knew you were a moron, I just kept it to myself!

PS. Just to be blatantly obvious about it, I am completely kidding.

PPS. I did not in fact keep it to myself. I sent a PM to everyone except Alembic extolling the extent of his moronity.

PPPS. Actually, that's not true either. There are a few others on the list who I also consider to be a tad deficient, so I left those names off the PM list as well.

PPPPS. So, if you did not get the PM, please don't take it personally. You might have a lot of other great qualities.

PPPPPS. Then again, you might not.

PPPPPPS. Seriously, hasn't anyone else ever used a scythe?

    PPPPPPPS.

I may be a moron - but I am a well mannered, courteous and civil one.

PS - Quit hijacking this thread - it is very discourteous.

PPS - Moronity is not a word - that now calls into question your credibility on the scything issue.

I also read that Slater had been caring for his father who had/has ALS, and now his mother is dying from cancer, so I imagine he was under some stress to begin with.

He got hit hard enough to cut his head - I'd have been pretty hacked off too. I was just thinking the other day that I'm glad I don't have kids. I wouldn't want them to grow up in the society we have today.

The way the media is he won't need a job, he'll need is an agent. I can see him making money off this.

PPPPPPPPS. My scything credibility remains intact.

I Would like to thank this guy for doing what he did, and how he did it, instead of some other jerks. Like the guy last week who snapped at his job at a brewery in Conn. Man kills 8, self in Connecticut shooting rampage | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Headline | National News

I stand corrected - I'm a degreed engineer - but that does not mean I'm not a moron.

PS - The cutting motion you describe on the scything cut is what many describe as the shearing cut -oops - I just hijacked this thread. Perhaps I'm a hypocrite as well as having a vocabulary problem

That's a fact. Half of the charges won't stick in court. And this guy will end up doing just fine.
