Thanked: 235I voted other. My wife and I live with her parents. We have a room to ourselves which is like a whole house condensed down into one small room. In this room we used to have a land line. I used it one, but since then it hasn't been paid and the phone is just taking up space in a closet.
However, downstairs, in the common area of the house, there are about three land lines and a fax machine.

since i left my parents house i have not had a land line, never really thought about it. just never got around to getting one hooked up, i dont even know how much a land line costs these days, plus thats 10 numbers that i dont have to try to remember, it took me long enough to remember my cell phone number (have had the same number for about 12 years now)

I was beginning to think I was the only one never had a cell phone. All my friends are always texting or playing video games and what not on the things. They are always telling me to get one. When the hurricanes knocked the power out for 10 days twice in a year back in '04 they were at my door wanting to know if they could use my land line. The land lines still worked.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

No
Between cell, Skype in, google voice, and fax thru email, have no need for another personal phone number
Now that I reflect, seems tame back when had 2 land lines, where one was used usually for dial modem and fax

Thanked: 2591No land line for me too, what made me cancel mine was the constant advertisement calls from banks and such.

No Land line for nearly 10 years now, and it's not once been a problem.

P.S Just upgraded my old mobile to a new fangled yuppie phone yesterday in fact...Now I can get on and check out SRP from the thing, send email, take photo's, act as a wifi hotspot (whatever the hell that means, but I hope it means I have lots of cute chicks hanging off me)....Etc,etcLast edited by MickR; 02-03-2011 at 05:50 AM.
