I have a landline in my house still even though I own a cell phone.
I actually even have a rotary phone in my closet too, I miss when everyone used to use those in the day.

I still use my iPhone as an address book. No way I am calling a cell phone with a cell phone. One person that can't understand the call is enough.

We have a landline, and plan to keep it despite the fact that my wife and I both have personal and work cell phones. The reason is simple: it is the one phone which is guaranteed to work 24/7, and few people have the number.
My parents and kids will always be able to reach us if someone is at home, no matter the time of day. We don't take cell phones to our bedroom, but there is a land line phone next to our bed. I've also set up a call forwarding from my private cell phone (which is not really used anymore) to the landline.
That way a handful of people can reach me in the middle of the night if there is a system crash, without actually having my number. They know better than to call me unless it is really necessary.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

For the last couple of years I've had a cellphone only, but as SWMBO and I just moved into our new place we decided to get a landline and reduce the mobile bill each month!
We got a good deal for the landline, Sky and broadband all together so we went with that.

I need both types of 'phone for my work.
It may be a generational thing, but if a customer will only give me a cell phone number and no landline I'm a bit concerned that they may be a 'here today, gone tomorrow' type of person. I suppose in my mind I equate no fixed 'phone line with no fixed abode.'Living the dream, one nightmare at a time'
