I think too many people have gotten too far removed from where their food comes from.

If I was hungry I'd eat a dog.
I'd eat a cat just to have an excuse to remove the miserable creature from the planet.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Being that you are in China, what is the local internet scene like. Do you proxy out to read news outside the great firewall? What is the population's attitude around censoring the internet there? I've only read various articles on tech blogs that I read.

Also, be careful what you say! You don't want SRP blacklisted!
twelve usd a month to have a proxy just to be able to get to many social sites including linked in.
ya the firewall is alive and well.
oh ya since the spat last year google is still spotty.

As objectionable as most westerners find the consumption of dogs it is fairly standard throughout Asia. I've witnessed similar scenes in Korea, and the Philippines. In Korea me and a group of buds looked on at what we thought was a woman buying a puppy for her little girl from what we thought was a pet store. The woman pointed out the dog she wanted and went inside as the store owner dispatched the beast, cut him up like a chicken and wrapped him in butcher paper. Turns out that what we thought was a pet store was in fact the canine version of a lobster tank at the local market. Culinary norms vary from country to country as do social norms (i.e. no personal space, men holding hands in public (sign of friendship, not what you would think if you saw the same thing in the states)).

With regard to China, I'm considerably less offended by their choice of sustenance than I am with their absolutely appalling disregard for HUMAN rights and the fact that their people are largely denied their God given rights by an oppressive totalitarian Communist regime. Worse yet, our politicians on both sides of the aisle have been more than willing to bend over backwards for these tyrants and pretend not to notice as long as there was money to be made. The sad truth is that they seem to be succeeding wildly at taking over the U.S. without firing a shot.

personally I think you all have missed my point, I don't really give a rats arse about some tosser chowing down on fido . though i do think its disgusting.

These are a common grade of people you find over here, selfish , heartless , cruel ,uneducated and they are no 2 behind the US in wealth.

to answer one question as to why I live here , well It sure aint the food the water the security or wait for it ..... the quality of life.

foreigners come here for the money many leave because of the quality of life and the mentality of the locals.

I like the Chinese. They have hot women, good food, and great honing stones.

To many cultures they find us Americans offensive for eating beef. Those that worship cows, or whatever it is. I don't know which culture it is. Or, if they worship or respect them. Or both. But, someone knows what I'm talking about here.

I haven't even clicked the link on this...I refuse to since the whole website is seeminlgy devoted to trashing a place that has over a billion inhabitants and judging them by the freaks that are to be found there.

Freaks can be found anywhere and bad/good taste is relativistic.

It is a funny thing, rich Americans tend to stay at home rich Europeans travel and vacation alot. ( first two are generalizations) Rich Chinese get out of china. ( this is a fact)
Lx, please keep in mind we have one official news station for 1.3 bil folks in fact when its 6 pm here you have two choices state sponsored news ( A lot like soviet times or N Korea I would imagine) which is on nearly every channel or historical and moralistic dramas. so you can say that that site is bad mouthing but in fact it is only a site which is providing translations of the unofficial news and comments of the netizins.
the pursuit of the harmonious society is the reason for all the censorship of world views. BBC keeps getting banned facebook was banned six years ago three years ago twitter last week it was linked in. Tienanmen massacre actually gets your ISP locked for about fifteen min as do a few other embarrassments this government wishes to hide.

Human rights . I knew a girl who was not a member but only said falun gong ? whats the problem ? two years reeducation ! some big developer paid the local government for some land, boom thugs go in and kick the family out beat them and burn down the house while local cops watch , try to complain get beaten ,ignored or dissapear if you make too much noise.
let your kid play on the street he gets stolen and sold to work in a brick factory. cops just tell parents to forget about their kids.

Yes the world needs more and cheaper products and have no problem proclaiming themselves above this trash but at the same time beg to support it by signing more and more trade agreements. WTO haha rich, china has met less then 50% of what they agreed to in order to be a member.
I don't know , my friends who live in other parts of Asia have their mind blown when they stay here for any length of time. I bought a house in Japan just to have a place to relax. but this is the place to make money not a whole lot happening anywhere else.
