First of all, anyone who runs ought to be disqualified by reason of insanity. They've gotta be nuts to want the job. OTOH, for a comparison I'd take an FDR clone.

I think most have a power lust. Plus the earning potential of an ex president, or failed potential vice president seems to be pretty high.

I have zero faith in this current administration. There are a few out there I am watching but as it has been said, I'll wait to see what we are left with come voting time.

They have to shave with a straight razor too ..... whatever their gender.

In my fictional world, some of the main characteristics I'd look for is someone who; votes in accordance with the Constitution, wants to restore our civil liberties, and has an understanding of technology and how it should progress to benefit citizens.

I am curious about this part of your post. If the candidate is honest and has a decent moral compass, does it matter if he or she is a follower of a specific religion?

I've heard republicans dismiss Mitt Romney, simply because he was a mormon (or so I was told).
does this really matter that much in US elections?

I've seen a couple of very capable candidates. I'm just curious whether they'll stand a chance in the primaries or not.
