Sorry no sympathy from me, play with fire you get burned. She did it to herself no one forced her to abuse drugs and booze.

An early death is always a tragedy, no matter the cause. Hers is no different.

    May she rest in peace.

It's truly sad. But she joins a very long list of those who "knew what they were doing". Jimmie Hendrix, Janis Joplin are a few that come to mind. I am sorry it happened, I truly am. But, I also have no sympathy for them. The cemetaries are full of those who knew what they were doing, right up until the time they killed themselves. They truly believed it couldn't happen to them, in spite of history showing otherwise.

I don't understand people that cannot feel sympathy for this poor girl. Yes she knew what she was doing, and the possible consequences and if the drug use was purely recreational I can see saying "it was her choice." but it's obvious she was trying to self medicate some inner turmoil and I cannot help but feel sorry for someone that feels it is worth the constant risk of death to numb themselves from life. She was a marvelous talent with an amazing voice and her life is a loss to the music world.

Her being a talent makes it all the worse .

I am a recovered junkie ( heroin) , still I like my coke but if I was to die tomorrow only my family would morn me.

She and all the rest had no balls to live and openly worshiped death her handlers / promoters supported if not actively then silently her actions whilst waiting for her to make them even more cash. Same story as many in the so called 27 club.

No sympathy for her at all.

Feel sad for the grief her folks must be suffering though.

I do think this death is a tragedy, as is any life cut short, however, I do not think that she deserves the idolisation she has been getting, I personally didn't particularly like her music or think she was that great an artist/entertainer but that's just my opinion (and not the reason I dont think she deserverved to be held in such a high regard), I have known and lived around those with drug and alcohol addiction and whatever your reason for doing it, recreation, self medication or other, it is a choice you make and many make it and are stuck with it all thier life because it's hard to find a way out, this girl on the other hand repeatedly and publicly went to rehab clinics and yet still chose to continue on her way, she had a great deal of help and a family who repeatedly tried to stand behind her and support her and she continued on this vein and finally she paid the ultimate price for it.

Whilst I sympathise for her family and yes indeed am sorry for her life being cut so short, I find it hard to sympathise with someone who had so much opportunity to help themselves and in the end didn't bother, and I don't think it appropriate the way a number of fans are leaving bottles of vodka as a tribute to her.

I find it sad that so many youngsters looked up to a wealthy and bright young person, who had no reverence for her gift of life. Going to go listen to some Ted Nugent now.

Nothing like armchair quarterbacking a loss of life...

IMO, even in the age of the Internet, there are still times when "if you can't say nothin' nice, don't say nothin' at all" still applies.

an unfortunate inevitability i feel for her family they tried very hard over the years, no doubt this day was always in their minds, so yes she was a mess but just think about those who really loved her and have now lost their baby girl once so sweet and innocent ....

It's not that I am not capable of empathy (far from it actually) but she died as a consequence of her own choices, choices she made because she did not want to abandon the celebrity life. Her fate was in her own hands until the end, and all she had to do if she did not want the stress of celeb life is to stop being a celebrity.

I generaly feel more sorry for people who died as a consequence of other people's choices. The people who try their best to survive, but cannot do so because someone else (usually more powerful) cannot give a fig about other people. The people who die by the tens of thousands every day because their leaders / local warlords are more interested in exorbitant personal wealth and massacring anyone who happens to have the wrong faith or was born in the wrong tribe.
