Thanked: 1371Here's the big problem I have with Copenhagen: the can is still made out of cardboard.
Yeah, it does have some appeal in it's old fashionedness (kind of like straight razors) but at some point I crossed the threshold weight at which one can sit on a cardboard snuff can and not crush it.
When I buy Copenhagen I might as well just dump it in my back pocket and throw the can out. I think that's what Tim meant about not carrying Copenhagen in the back pocket.
I always keep my can in my back left pocket.
I don't like pocket lint in my smokeless tobacco.
Therefore I don't buy Copenhagen.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Cowboys put their can in the shirt pocket, cant sit or ride in the saddle with that can constantly indenting itself in your backside, non riding sodbusters put it in the back pocket.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Yes full circle and I'm still waiting for somebody to tell me how is the government's regulation of say indecency different from regulation of tobacco.
I'm sure any adult who can handle watching baseball players spit brown saliva can also handle seeing nudity, and drug/alcohol abuse, or hear the words that are now bleeped, and we've already heard that minors are not all that impressionable as previously thought and their parents can take care of their upbringing.
It looks to me we've got just another example of the typical internet thread - 'It's my opinion that this is the way it should be therefore that's how it should be'. That's exactly why american politics and economics is the way it is and it's going to be getting worse. Jefferson did have the education thing right.

Thanked: 1185In point to fact, it makes me no never mind, I still dip when and where I please and 90-95% of the onlookers have no idea that I am. I guess my points were:
1. This Nanny State garbage is getting completely out of hand.
2. It's none of the government's business when and where people partake in LEGAL stimulant. For a side bit of comedic irony, the people screaming loudest to hang tobacco users are the same folks screaming to legalize the Devil's lettuce. Wasn't their justification for a recent ridiculous tax hike on tobacco to fund medical care for poverty stricken children? If they attempt to limit the use of tobacco who will tend to the poor unfortunate kids? When looked at in this context, aren't heavy tobacco users by proxy doing something they enjoy while simultaneously performing an act of philanthropy?
3. I can't believe that with everything else going on, this is the biggest thing on their radar.
Look, I know that politically, we're a wildly diverse crowd. I'm just speaking my mind. I'm not suggesting that anyone has to agree and if you disagree that's your right, have a nice day. I'm not saying...I'm just saying.Last edited by 1OldGI; 10-25-2011 at 11:21 PM.

Baseball's current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) expires at the end of the year and a whopping four senators, along with various other health officials, wrote letters to MLB suggesting that a tobacco ban is part of the new CBA. Did I mention that CBA stands for collective bargaining agreement? Key words highlighted there.
Can we scale back on the hyperbole? It's not the "biggest thing on their radar" by a long shot.

Oh great, now restricting our free speech? Stop trying to neuter the American male SRP membership! I can't believe with everything else going on, this is the biggest thing on the moderators' radar
you may succeed in banning hyperbole, but you will never crush our spirits!Last edited by hoglahoo; 10-26-2011 at 04:18 PM.

Thanked: 1185Grizzly snuff is actually a more than suitable substitute for Copenhagen and cheaper too. I dipped Copenhagen for most of my adult life and a good portion of my childhood but now prefer Grizzly. It comes in a plastic can too. And oh yeah, Major Leage Baseball had less than zero effect on my decision to start dipping. It was my big brother (at the time a Marine). He has since quit but remembering the imortal words of my old man, "Quitters never win and winners never quit" I have stayed the course. The old man used to tell me that my face would fall off by the time I was 30 if I kept dipping. That turned out to be about as true as the "hair on the palms" misconception

Thanked: 1185Shucky Darns, you are absolutely correct my good Sir, I must have just missed that recent flurry of congressional activity to fix our busted economy or effectively manage our ridiculous national debt. How bout we substitute some good old fashioned sarcasm for the aforementioned hyperbole?
