Thanked: 1185And lest we forget Al Gore, Mr. Save the Planet, lives in a house the size of a small shopping mall and burns about $3000 worth of electricity (probably produced by coal) every month. Typical lying left wing hypocrite d***he bag. In the 60's it was population, I remember as a kid reading The Population Bomb by Dr. Paul Ehrlich. More unnecessary hysteria, as it turns out, birth rates in developed countries at best are on average enough to replace Mom and Dad when they die. I think after the baby boom, the advent of birth control, big screen TV's and the internet forced many people to do other things with their spare time. Either that or people figured out that the funnest thing about kids is making them. Spoken like a true grumpy old man, huh?

Gentlemen, I have an honest question: If someone gave you facts that show global warming is, in fact, real--it is now universally accepted by people who know what science is (as opposed to politicians), shown by billions (that's with a "B" there) of pieces of data, analyzed by thousands of people (some of whom were funded by climate change deniers like the Koch brothers), would you care?
Or would you continue to assume it's some silly librul lie?
Because it's real. It really really is. The temperate is rising, weather patterns are changing, and this is going to change everything. The Department of Defense (AKA the Military, AKA the Conservative's sole governmental love) accepts absolutely that climate change is happening, and poses an enormous threat to the US's national security.
But hey, Al Gore Al Gore Al Gore, amirite?Last edited by JimR; 11-06-2011 at 12:55 AM.

It is getting harder and harder to ignore the fact that global weather patterns are definitely changing and will give our descendants serious problems before the end of the century. Yes, sure they've changed before, but that was then and this is now. It's a shame the Al Gore, whoever he is, became involved in the debate.

Thanked: 983I wouldn't have the faintest idea who 'Al Gore' is, but hasn't global warming (and cooling) been going on for millions of years? What with the advent of the ice ages, and the fact hat the earth is still warming up after the last one way back when, and all. We may be speeding the process up slightly, but that would be about it I'd reckon.
What about the fact that Britian was a warmer place to live just 2000 years ago compared to today?! That's Warmer, not Cooler, and 2000 years ago, that's before factorys, cars and major pollutants in the air. I think people are just being scare mongered too. But I an't no scientist or politician, I'm just someone who likes to think too much for myself.

Thanked: 55Jim, the question is not whether it's happening, it is and it's been going on since the beginning of the earth. The question is whether or not man is influencing it. On that question there is only theory and the theory is not playing out the way it's proponents believed it should. This much is admitted even by them. And if they can't answer this question definitively then the real goal of socializing the economy completely cannot be attained.

Thanked: 90Read this please
Al Gore's putative hypocrisy notwithstanding, the climate is undeniably changing, and there is not any variation in the sun's output to account for it. There is a variation in the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere that WOULD account for it, and the source of all that CO2 is presently known. None of these facts are in dispute. The "Climategate" emails amounted to nothing and neither have any of the other right wing criticisms of global warming.
