Silly boy, the WHOLE public should have been armed...that's the whole point.

Because if I (including many other CCW people) was there I would have dropped him where he stood. Period, end of story. I promise you he wouldn't try this in Texas as he would have ended up Swiss Cheese. Lastly, I hit what I shoot at, the public is perfectly safe. I expect comments like this from folks who put their trust in the Police and Government. The police will take minutes to arrive and the Government days, my .45 is less than two seconds away from being a danger to a bad guy.

I notice you conveniently missed the whole lower section of my post.

So with a eyes swollen and nasal passages blocked and fighting to see amd breathe properly, you would have shot and killed a heavily armed and armoured assailant in a gas mask?

I am not anti gun, but they do not turn you into a super hero.

Because it was irrelevant, I have inhaled my share of tear gas and know how to deal with it & just because you have torso armor doesn't mean you are Iron Man...it just means I have to "aim small, miss small". He didn't have EOD armor on to protect his entire body. Lastly, I bet you my entire razor collection that I have had MUCH more combat training than he did...LIVE rounds, REAL bad guys. This guy was a psychotic coward that needed to be put down just like a rabid animal.

Im sorry but regardless of what training you may or may not have had I am not going to believe that you could battle teargas in a room full of panicked people and hit a moving target who has armour in a small enough region to kill him without being a risk to anyone else.

Ok, I have no problem with that. Tear gas doesn't incapacitate you, just makes things more difficult. Adrenaline is harder to deal with than snot and tears when shooting.

Funny thing is that I did some drills just yesterday shooting 8" paper plates on the move (moving to/away & moving both directions) at 25 yards with 10mm & .45acp. Like changing the oil in the car...preventative maintenance.

Go to some schools that teach combat rifle/shotgun/handgun training or even join the military. Once you become proficient at self defense, you will understand the mentality. Until then, you will never understand. It's also a perishable skill, so you must keep them "honed". IDPA competitions are great to keep your skills honed or I welcome you to my neck of the woods and I will show and teach you that what I say is very, very true.

Half the people did not know what was going on because it was dark and confusing.
Get a couple dozen people shooting in a crowded theatre at the person the 'thought' had started shooting...

Can you see how that would turn out?
The death toll would have been higher.

Again, that is assuming you would have seen what was going to happen.
And judging by the stories of the people involved, a great many didn't know and hadn't seen who started shooting.

Not being in the situation and thinking about it at your leisure can make everyone an expert at taking the guy out just like the Monday morning quarterback. Being suddenly thrust into that situation is a very different deal altogether I don't care how well trained you are or how good a pistolero you think you are. I've been in enough LEO training scenarios to know and that of course ain't the real thing.

Meh. I could have put one through his left eyeball from three blocks away while blindfolded in a pouring rain.
