Haha it certainly was. Luckily my wife is American . When we were in Vegas she prepped me for the change in atmosphere (and indeed drinks prices) between old Vegas (fremont) and new vegas. It was so stunning! I was a little perturbed by how desolate the deserts are, there was a guy who was broken down and I HAD to stop and give him a gallon of water. Couldn't have just left him there.
Such a new interesting experience. We are going to head to New York on the other coast some time.

I agree that it is certainly spiritual. You also see the power of man out there when you get to the vast man made lakes.

    Great pics!

I drove trucks all over that country "back in the day."

You've come a long ways, enjoy your trip home.
I may have confused things, I was born in Florida, my son was born in Vietnam. We have traveled there so he can have an understanding of both sides/cultures. I will keep you in mind reference our next trip Don.

I will put a photo album in my profile section of some select Vietnamese photos if anyone is interested. later tonight. I don't think they would be appropriate for this thread.

    Hey now.

I started this thread with the intent of showing some of what I see and have seen and hoped everyone else would join in and do the same. Post your pics here if you want to.

Doesn't matter to me if the road you took the pic from is front of your house or half way around the world.

    JUST DO IT!

    Hey Wullie,

How ya doin'?? Are you handling things OK? My condolences, I'm sorry for your loss. I see via Yahoo news, that the 60 something year old icon of the Texas State Fair, "Big Tex" burst into flames. I watched the video, it's horrific, like the newsreel of the Hindenburg disaster. Will Texas lower the flags to half staff? The Mayor promises to bring him back, bigger and better. But, still, too sad. R.I.P. Big Tex.

    Abandoned building overload yesterday.

This old house belonged the Doctor in Clairette, TX. It is a Sears & Roebuck "Honor Built" house. It was shipped in on a train and erected where it stands (barely) today.

More pics of the old Dr's house.
Cute little pump jack on the water well.

Only room I could see into from the window.

Check out the baking soda box.

    table on the back porch.

Kind of obvious where the fireplace is.

    Old barn across the road.

BIG country in the rear view mirror

If I owned that little stone house, I would gut it & build another around the stone walls.
