Thanked: 247"Tight knit community?" Well, be prepared to hear the word "NO" when you go begging for food. They are not going to share because they'll not have enough for themselves and their own kids and family. It should be mentioned I pretty much speak entirely tongue in cheek. I'm smart enough to know....that I don't know anything really.

All you guys come off it. All of us, unless you live under a rock somewhere or a cave are products of the world we live in. Turn off the electricity for 24 hours and people panic. In a true disaster, a protracted one there would be anarchy and total breakdown. Unless you gather you things and head for the hills far away from other people all the prep in the world ain't gonna do you a lick of good.

Thanked: 58Ha! I KNEW I wasn't crazy when the rest of my associates looked at me awkwardly when giving my answer to what kind of dream home would you have! All I said was, at least a hundred acre plot at the base of mountain, large lake w/ my dehavilland beaver docked securely, 100 yards of clear view from the house to the tree line, 8-10 foot chain-link fence w/ concertina wire, automated machine gun nests every 100 yards or so, total self-sufficient power/air conditioning/etc, underground escape tunnels from my underground gun vault/hobby shop/fallout shelter that are well-ventilated and run in 8 major directions on the compass rose to prepared bug-out vehicles of varying types awaiting me with plenty of rations for a week.
That's all I said and you should've seen the looks. Wimps."Be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man"

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

..and it still took Santa Anna 13 days.
...and on the flip side of that coin, Sam Houston whipped Santa Anna's butt in approx. 18 minutes, give or take a few minutes. I heard from good sources that Sam Houston was a "Prepper".
