[QUOTE=Yochatman;, what are scientists doing to make peanuts so different that the allergy rate is steadily climbing? Or are the completely sterile environments in which we live, work, and play creating more sensitivity?[/QUOTE]

I stopped reading the posts by page 2. I think you two are both right. I feel for your daughter and think it is fair to have a space for her and to have people educated on using the epi-pen and so on.I think you are facing this reasonably and are not asking for unreasonable accomodation ,I truly hope you take that as respectful . And I also agree that given how long we humans have been around and given the ever increasing rise in food allergies within the last few decades I would surmise that we are sciencing ourselves to death. Which just reenforces my personal belief that man is a fool when it comes to trying to build a better mousetrap or universe for that matter. Some things such as medicine are worth improving with levelheaded caution of course, but it seems in our fervent race for progress,we sort of lose our rational thought and common sense, sometimes we should ask what are we trying to progress to ? And maybe being simpler about some things such as the way we live and farming etc. is more progressive than trying to progress with a testtube. Just my nothing of a viewpoint. but I use a straightrazor so what do I know after all it's carbon steel that rusts and it's dangerous ?

They have recommended we all avoid sending our kids to school with something that would potentially be lethal to a fellow student
This is the ideal solution, IMO.
In fact, that kind of approach is the ideal solution for many things that government needlessly involves itself with.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I never wanted kids, and have succeeded in that ambition admirably.

Your post that "My kid could die if you are irresponsible" sums up the primary fact of every individual's existence on this plane of reality. Peanuts or predators, take your pick. Life ain't for sissies, no one told me it was going to be fair. If someone had told me life could be this hard, I probably wouldn't have signed up.

Fewer people have real peanut allergy than previously thought - Telegraph
    Just an FYI...

and Glen, one of my dogs got whipworms from taking walks on a popular trail here in town, we had to treat both dogs at several hundred dollars over the course of a couple of years as whipworms can live in your soil for many years.

Well they are clean now, and we don't take walks on those trails anymore!
"Charlotte meetup," lets shoot for April 13-14 or 20-21. What say you? PM me to get the ball rolling! And may your face always be BBS!

Not the case here, she sets at a peanut/tree nut free table, anyone is welcome to sit with her, as long as there are no nuts.

    You don't
People who don't have kids don't understand having kids.

Yet this is the case. We have to determine whom to trust with our kids. Which school they go to, which friends they get to see. Even a trip to the playground can be deadly, wort case. So either you completely isolate your kids from the world (home schooling, no playdates, no sports, etc) or you accept that your kids might have a life at the risk of being at risk to something or other.

My youngest daughter got a scalp wound when she tumbled off a swing, and hit her head right on top of a small toy car. Blood all over. She only needed stitches. Shit happens. It would be silly to blame (or sue) people for that. the alternative is to wrap them in bubble wrap (with an airhole) and make them sit very still.

If we know about a specific, immediate and possibly deadly risk, we should of course mitigate it. Other than that, you just have to accept that sometimes, shit just happens. My oldest likes climning spider nets in the playground. Contrary to the ones in the US, the ones around here are sometimes 30 feet or higher. She climbs to the top, and then waves her hand(s). I'm pretty sure she'd break severl things if she fell down. That's life. So if someone would take her to the playground, she could get an accident just as well. And that would be equally blameless.

If someone stopped the planet right now, you'd be off pretty quickly, assuming there is nothing between you and the horizon. If there was, you'd hit that obstruction with a smack that would make you look like a red ink water balloon hitting a wall.

I always assumed that if they stopped the planet, they would decelerate it gradually.
