The unfortunate fact is most folks have either absolutely no understanding of how science works or they think they have an understanding when they don't. This allows interest groups to use what are actually the strengths of science and turn them around to look like weakness to the uninitiated. it also makes it easy to take things that are highly complex and simplify them or really dumb them down and then the untrue becomes logically true.
The cold hard truth is the world was here long before humans existed and will be here long after we are gone and whether we think this or that about changes will not stop what is happening. Like the old saying about being up to your butt in Alligators and then remembering to drain the swamp when the state of Florida is under water it will be too late to say gee, those guys were right afterall. Of course none of us will be around to see that happen. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Well said. The late great George Carlin has a great routine regarding change and the state of the planet. I would have linked it in, but it has some rather coarse language not necessarily fitting for SRP, so I opted not to. If anyone is interested, head over to Youtube and search for it.

What is the #1 Greenhouse gas? It's not CO2. CO2 isn't even the second.
Politics and the media are the only things that make CO2 important.
Controlling greenhouse gas emissions is nothing but a power grab by the government.

Thanked: 1184It's all about the money people. Carbon tax, gun sales, wars, laws to make you safer, are all to make some one else money, PERIOD. The constitution was designed to protect the common citizen from those that have the money and the power. Guess what , it's not working out so well after all. At least it looks that way to me. The hierarchy of control in this country/world is banks, corporations, politicians, then the citizens.
The makers of DDT also made agent orange. And now they have a new miracle called Round-Up. There may be extreme views pro/con but would the most sense be to prove it safe before feeding it to all of us ? To find the truth I look for the profit. Because the truth is, profit wins every time. If it becomes obvious that something is wrong later, then we will do something about it.
Is the planet warming ? Yes, all the planets are showing signs warming. Nature does that on it's own and humankind is adding to the process here on Earth. What do our world leaders do about it ? Well, carbon taxes is their best solution so far.
I think it has come to the point in human history when we have to sacrifice some things to make changes we all would like to see. Unfortunately I think the only thing that will bring this about is some global disaster. The economy and profit margins will not allow this kind of change. We take what we want from science and nature to benefit the bottom line. The whole time we argue about insignificant facts and raw data whether it be about the constitution , the human condition, or the planet. This is what humans are. Self destructive, competitive, egos, and we are just naturally progressing through time until something happens to change it. It doesn't have to be this way but I certainly don't see anyway to get humans to act differently. Well, like I said , short of a major disaster. This is the only time you see mass groups of people in another light. They will risk their lives to save someone else, they will be generous and do what ever it takes to help out. It's just to bad we can't use more of that side of ourselves to affect change for the betterment of all humans and our planet.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 1587Do you have any evidence to support this statement? It really is quite definitive: "nothing but". Nothing? No other reasons? Not a single other reason? You must be privy to some quite specific information. Please share it with the rest of us so we too can walk with such certainty through this world.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
