Thanked: 1184The speech !
Here you go !
President Obama's Complete Monday Speech
I am all for everybody making their own decisions and interpretations. This man is a very good speaker and when I read or listen to him it all sounds so good. When I started reading this I feel like I am being directed to believe something that is full of half truths. But then I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. I am always looking for the "yeah but ". I am a bipartisan thinker when it comes to politics. These guys are so out of touch and as far as I am concerned and WE better do something about it soon ! When your leaders are this opposed to each other the citizenry is not going to be that far behind them. Where are the leading us ? To a fight amongst ourselves ?Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Guys. Ryan is warming up and Scienceguy is going off. I know this whole political thing has evolved into something ugly. The gun thing has come along with it, it would seem. We have members here with many different continents, countries, views, leanings, religions, and shaving preferences. I want to apoligize for entering into this discussion. It truly does no good. I feel the conversation should be void of politics, period. This IS Straight Razor Place. Democrat, Republican, Independent, Whatever, Us Americans are a percentage of this forum. We have respected members the world over. I, for one, would like to forward a motion which will help the forum and keep sooooom members from leaving or being banned. It seems to be an ongoing issue. Lets keep what we have in common, and treasure it, lest we lose it. Straight Razors! Lifestyles related. Just not politics. Plenty places to do that! Please take this into consideration and PLEASE bash me ,if you will!
Thanks,
Tom"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 1184You think that is not possible ? Is the Washington post a fringe fanatic conspiracy paper ?

Okay Sharptonn I'm out. I do feel this topic needs to be discussed and I find most people "in person" can be more civil and understanding in a one on one conversation. In a forum like this the written word is left open to interpretation by the reader. My posts may seem like I am leaning one way or the other but that would be a mistake. I may find something funny and "like " it and think later how it may hurt some one else's feelings. It can get too crazy too fast for these reasons.Last edited by 10Pups; 01-15-2013 at 02:41 AM.

If you don't like your president, may be you shouldn't keep electing him - just an idea.
Same thing with congress.

This is the Conversation Forum so one can either choose or not choose to get involved in any discussion put forth. Members may not always agree, but as long as the discussion is conducted in a gentlemenly fashion, what's the harm in discussing/debating any topic? The Mods get involved if and when needed. A good spirited discussion is always good to keep one's mind open.
Not to , but in the wake of the recent tradegy involving guns and the president's vow to end gun violence, this has got to be one of the worst metaphors he could use:
"I’m happy to have that conversation. What I will not do is to have that negotiation with a gun at the head of the American people..."
Poor poor choice of analogy and words. Thanks to Gssixgun and 10pups for the links.

Actually there is a little bit more than this and it probably would behove most posters in politically charged threads to reread http://straightrazorpalace.com/conve...uidelines.html
paying particular attention to the following bit
I have said it before, and will repeat it - using this forum as a political soap box is not going to be tolerated.Avoid comments which do not enhance the thread, steer away from the topic, are derogatory to a specific individual, his nationality, religious beliefs, relatives, political views, or lifestyle. It is acceptable to have views which differ from others views, it is not acceptable to use those views to act in a manner which is derogatory to the member himself. Please disagree without resorting to uncivil behavior in an attempt to make your view seem correct.
