Thanked: 13249Those that do not learn from history... Blah Blah Blah
You do realize that Iraq had a much better military than NK ever thought about possessing, without ever using a Nuke the US took it apart ... TWICE !!!
Now proceed to explain why that won't workLast edited by gssixgun; 03-06-2013 at 06:21 PM.

Nuclear weapons are totally out of the question in modern day Warfare after all we now know the full effects what happens, take my country the UK, when the Chernobyl nuclear reactor in the Ukraine exploded that was more than 1500 miles from the UK and nowhere near the size of a nuclear warhead, and because the wind was blowing in the wrong direction more than twenty years later there were farmers and livestock in the UK which could not be moved or sold for human consumption, that's the reality of nuclear warheads, a small detonated device in the center of New york would make it impossible for millions of people to live or return there in their life times.

I enjoyed the part where Dennis Rodman brought back the message that The Glorious Leader and Obama both like basketball so that could be a start and for Obama to just pick up the phone and call him.
Next day US responds that The Glorious Leader should focus on its starving population instead of hosting FORMER NBA stars as a spectacle. LATER ON THAT SAME DAY NK announces that they will end the ceasefire and escalate their dream of a unified Korean Peninsula. Now I know that China signed off on the new UN sanctions against NK but I like to think that the Glorious Leader did it because Obama wouldn't call him and talk basketball.

Funny how the people saying that are not the ones who do the dying.
I bet you'd be a lot less enthusiastic about a first strike if it was your family living next to the DMZ.
We've all seen how such a simplistic plan turned out in Iraq.
I'd say that approach has been shown to be less than ideal as well.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

That's simple. The second the US attacks, there are thousands long range cannons and missile launchers, each able to send at least 4 incendiary shells / missiles into seoul within the very first minute. I don't doubt for a second that the US could beat NK in a relatively short timeframe. But not before tens / hundreds of thousands of innocent people die.
The US didn't win the cold war by attacking. Because that would have had horrible results.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

LOL Yes the World heard the same speeches from Saddam, Nerve Gas, Germ Warfare, Blah Blah, the Republican Guard Yada Yada, Kill the Infidel Crusaders by the Hundreds of Thousands and it all went up in a big puff of smoke...
I do believe they dragged his butt out of a hole in the ground, IIRC that is
Please do continue to explain the difference between an Battle Hardened Iraqi military, and the ain't seen war in 60 years NKLast edited by gssixgun; 03-06-2013 at 08:43 PM.

Um, the NK artillery is already in place, aimed at seoul. All they need to do is pull the trigger. The guns are there, the ammunition is there, and the target has been set for a long time. There won't be any fighting the actual NK area until way past the point where they've already started shooting.
As for battle hardened Iraqis...
The US military leadership has a much higher opinion of the NK army than the Iraqi army.
Did you check the link I provided a couple posts earlier? Because that had a comparison with Iraq, and from what I can read, NK is goig to be harder to conquer than Iraq. But even if pyongyang would be easy enough to conquer, and I don't doubt it would happen sooner or later, NK shelling seoul would not entail fighting. Just pullng the trigger. they included an analysis of known dud rates, deployment numbers, and a load of other stuff. Seoul will not be gone. And the majority of people would still survive. But even the minority dying would be a great number of people.
The past severl administrations have left NK alone despite their nuclear adventures. Clinton, Bush, and Obama. Are you saying you know better than them and the chiefs of staff?Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
