PET PEEVE! Did you read what he said about the hours and trials to get something that worked for him? Why should you get the benefit of lots of his non- income producing experimental toil for nothing? I have seen businesses that lost money when some one found out our methods and then duplicated our results.
Just my take on the matter! May be harsh but...................

Miha....
The internet is full of information on various techniques for getting that 'Frosted Look' on steel. Do a Google search and I am sure that you can find what you are looking for...
Or maybe ask 'Glen'...I would bet dimes to donuts that he has the experience to give you some direction....
It is a nice effect, and in MO half the fun of getting it is experimenting yourself. This is a gentleman's forum with lots of sharing from lots of folks...I think that is the real treasure to be found here at SRP. I think that is what the OP is really saying...And I am thankful just to be able to see his handiwork.

Hmmm, I happen to have some personal leverage to get this info from him......
Just kidding Mark!

hey guys...
I see I caused some stir here,... I do not see a reason why shouldn't I politely express my opinion and ask a question, I agree that Mark's work is out of this world, and I understand not always everybody do want to share all the things they came up with and I am not twisting his or anyones arm to do so, I just asked and as said above hoped to get more info as there was a short conversation in another thread and wasn't aware that this was a secret matter of that level. So let me rephrase my thoughts: no pressure or need to reveal anything! But do keep in mind that the majority of things you know came from someone else (either free or paid)..
Another thing I'd like to mention (and I know it's off topic): I haven't been here that long but it has happened a few times I was "jumped on" when I meant NO harm, so please do know that I (too) come in peace ! All the questions that seem to you as a direct product of laziness etc might be just a sum of trying to learn, lack of knowledge of an expression for certain things, or problem to get the stuff you are buying in US, the absence of people knowing a lot about this around you etc etc.
I'm not planning to open/extend off-topic discussion on this topic here, so that's it for me .. again Mark, great work and sorry if I was too pushy with my question!

I see no harm in someone asking for info on technique. It is why I come here. I try to share as much as I receive.
Of course I also see no harm in someone keeping something close to the vest if that is what they wish. I have met Mark and he is a Super nice guy, and very generous, as are many folks here.
My personal take is that miha meant no harm, just looking for knowledge. I do it all the time. Just did it this morning when I noticed someones' awesome blade finish on a restore. I shared my technique, and he expanded and told me what he did different.
Just my humble opinion.

Woah!
Didn't mean to cause a stir. So sorry 'bout that.
None of the stuff I do is rocket science or that I'm Snowden giving away top secrets. As most have pointed out here there is no harm in asking. And as some have said info on most anything you want to know is readily available. Quickly too if you have a computer!
I happen to like Scott Brenneke's ( Captains Choice ) Old Bay and the new Lime. I don't think he'd give me the formula on how he makes it even though he's a good friend, but I can find plenty of recipes on line to have a go at it .
As far as sharing stuff goes I have done countless tutorials for my regular work on my blog. I have no problem sharing some info on a range of topics. Besides, just because I can do something doesn't mean every one wants to try or will duplicate my efforts. But I guess there are those times when you hit on something because of the money and effort you put into something you love that you ( me ) tend to want to just sit on it a while.
A bit of a similar situation occured which may be part of my knee jerk response to giving too much away. It happened on another site where I started building custom brushes. I posted some I built after figuring a way to duplicate any shade of Butterscotch acrylics. Spun them up in my lathe and had a nice set for myself.
That is until I started getting some rather pointed emails insisting I give the formula, the colorants I used, the Acrylics I used to produce my butterscotch to some rather prominent brush makers. Either that or I had to be willing to sell them my stock.
Really?
After I blew through 3 gallons of resins ( $100.00 a gallon ) countless types of paints and colorants and how much time on my lathe watching brush handles explode like glass because the mix was wrong and they were too brittle.
Shortly after,,,
This was followed by mail from moderators saying I had to leave the site. Or become a vendor. Hey, I was one month into wet shaving and needed some brushes and had no intention of selling them. I was merely posting my work as anyone would do. Maybe it just left a bad taste in my mouth.
But being a woodworker ,, with a lathe,, what would you expect I do. Buy theirs?
A lame excuse,, but I do hope you understand.
