W&B FIS with frost line
As another post shows I was commissioned to do this piece. Don't let him kid you. He certainly has the talent to do this. Though I don't know if I'd describe the rust around the pin as " A Wee bit of rust",,,,,
You might have seen the other post showing the frost but after doing the etch this morning, then hitting Thanksgiving dinner I just had to wrap this up tonight. I was so excited to see it done.Last edited by mycarver; 11-29-2013 at 05:41 AM.

And it's done. I had the top edge of the scales match the sweep of the top of the spine. Did double stacks at the ivory wedge end and a single at the pivot. The frost line starts at the line of the bottom of the shaft and terminates at the bottom of the barbers notch. It parallels the top of the spine.

As usual, magnificent in it's simplicity.

Hey Bear, no problem! As I've said, Thank You for letting me do this for you. I always love the challenges and you threw down the gauntlet. But you know you could have done this just as well.

Now! Inquiring minds want to know how you did the ‘frost’ with the polished above!!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Well not to reveal every trick in my bag you first get a junk blade, polish it , spend some money and get whatever media you think may work, do I don't know how many test samples and keep repolishing the junk blade, try as many masks as you can think of , try some chemicals, and then after how many hours of playing casually you attack your clients blade with your heart in your throat as you probably have one chance of getting it right without destroying his blade and give it the old college try. At one point I nearly soiled my pants with what went on with this thing.Just to recreate a frost line.
It worked.
Now this leads to other possibilities. I know what works, what doesn't and what will give me different textures for future projects.
Cool huh?
But once I figure out how to recreate the Geneva I used tonight, or do a proper restoration on this Wosty, I'll be a happy guy.Last edited by mycarver; 11-29-2013 at 07:35 AM.

Way Cool Mark!!!
So you just play and play and then toss the dice and see what happens!!! Then you have a reference for future projects!!
I really wish I lived close to you so I could see what happens when the dice have been rolled!
However you managed to pull the end results off/again, very nice work!!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
