My First Straight
Here is my first go at making a razor. This blade is 8/8 and would probably be best described as 1/4 hollow as I ground it with a 10" contact wheel. I used 3/16" flat-ground O-1 steel as my starting point. The cutting edge is 3" long. I don't remember what this wood is called, any help here? I am excited to see how it shaves after I get it honed. Thanks to everyone here, I use everyone's work as examples and inspiration.

Thanked: 170Someone correct me if I am wrong on this - I think the ratio of spine to width is 4 x 1. If I'm right, 3/16 stock would be too thin to get the preferred @17 degree edge angle. Your razor would still work, but the edge wouldn't last as long. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong. Charlie??? Bear?? Anyone?
That said, you made a darn nice looking razor.
