Thanks! About a year ago I saw one of your grinding videos and it inspired me to try making a straight.

My guess for the scale material is Purpleheart

Nicely done indeed. The lines are nice and clean and the design look great. Well done.

What a great first straight. The depth of the blade, the satin finish, and the sweeping curve through the tang make a great looking razor. The colour contrast of the scales really set it off.

I'm going to need a bigger bathroom

Thanks! Initially the bade was too deep for the stock I used, would have had a really shallow blade angle. I corrected for this and will have it honed soon.

Beautiful work. The blade shape really speaks to me. Make another one and sell it to me!

That's a beautiful razor, whether your 1st or you 101st! As for the wood, could it be pink ivory?

Thank you! I have a bit of experience grinding knife blades, but never tackled the project of a razor.

I think you got it. I remember that I had some purpleheart and the plank I cut it from is very purple on the exterior and I think that purpleheart oxidizes to the purple color from a more reddish purple after being newly sanded or cut.

That's correct, I think your pictures show just how much change that particular wood species can go through from your first picture to the latest one.
