Someone correct me if I am wrong on this - I think the ratio of spine to width is 4 x 1. If I'm right, 3/16 stock would be too thin to get the preferred @17 degree edge angle. Your razor would still work, but the edge wouldn't last as long. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong. Charlie??? Bear?? Anyone?
That said, you made a darn nice looking razor.

That's what tape is for right ;-) 2 layers should make it 4/16 it may be cheating but it works!

4 to 1 is the correct approximate ratio. Isn't exact, but "close enough".

I know I am a bit off of ideal its sounds. I feel like I have seen a discussion of angle and shave quality somewhere and there seemed to be quite a range of angles if I remember correctly.

If you go for a grinder, you might consider buying a KMG. I know you can build clones easily enough, but they are built well and if you have a way to make money with it, it will pay for itself quickly. I make tools and knives primarily with mine and love it.

Thanks for all the kind words. I know every time I make anything, I learn a lot. I really appreciate all I am able to glean from forum goers online.
