You can get some stuff locally but not much to choose from.I get most of my shaving supplies on line.I can get Van De Hagen products locally as well as cheap brushes, you can get clubman at Walgreens ,I'm working with one local crafter that has started making beard products to make some preshave and after shave as well as some soap. There are some stores in Anchorage like JC penny and Nordstrom that carry a variety of aftershaves and cologne .

Ok so I ground 3 other blades and then tackeled this one so I only had to do one wheel change.Next up putting my makers mark and then some scales,I'm thinking walrus ivory or oosik for the wedge and blue dyed mauser birch for scales.

Thanked: 4826Looking good. What a heavy grind to that girl. The Ivory or the oosik would be great as a wedge. Do you have large enough pieces for scales? I don't think I have ever seen oosik used as scales, perhaps it may be too brittle? I have never worked with it but have seen it. You should show a little off, it is not a very common material.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Yes it's a near wedge,I've used oosik a number of times for knife handles and I also stabilized it.I normally use ancient stuff with lots of color to it.Here is the last knife I made with it,the stuff is very dense and it used to be used as clubs.
