Thanked: 735Voices of dissent are more than welcome.
Art is supposed to invoke an emotional response. Not necessarily a good response....
Razor vandal....I kinda like that!
Red, in the thread about DAs you criticized me for working with sub-par materials, now that I've gone and butchered a fine ol' Butcher, I'm gonna catch it for that too!
Ah well.....I do have to say that one of the things I've always liked about this particular razor is the way the monkeytail really hooks onto my finger, balancing the weight of the blade. With the thumbnotch on there too, it feels really locked in.

Thanked: 13247I am sorry but I gotta go with Seraphim here...
In the old days a rich man could have the razor built exactly like they wanted right down to etched Intials...
Today it is our choice how to make the razor personal...
And who is to say the if W&B wasn't still in business they would be making them with this modern look also....
To each their own, some of us are traditional (I am) some are not... Thank God we have a choice
Nice clean work on the razor, cant wait to see the scales, you gotta go wicked curvy on them

Thanked: 735Thanks, Glenn.
But perhaps your view is stilted due to your having had at a W&B yourself with the ol' dremel?

Thanked: 278You've heard of Trogdor the Burninator, well we have Seraphim the Dreminator!
I think that's pushing the limits of what you can get away with, but it looks good.

Are you using a jig on a Dremel workstation to get even depth and spacing on your scallops?
I like the mods, personally. The tang is especially interesting.

Thanked: 151I have an old W&B that I have had a lot of problems with and would be better off to get it re-ground. However, I am going to keep working on it because I want it to look like it did when it was new.
However, your eye for flare and style is undeniably great. If that were a new razor, I would be saying wow and $$$$$ because the shape and style is fantastic!

Did I actually say sub-par materials? I thought what I said was that the work and effort was the same, why not start with something higher value and less disputed quality (not in those words, but in sum)? as far as them being sub-par, I'll leave that to guys with hones that have tried blades side by side. I don't hone and have shaved with maybe 10 - 12 different blades.
Glen is right, we all get to have these things customized our way. variety is the spice of life. just not my variety this time

Nice job of work but I guess I'm a traditionalist. I would rather have this one.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
