The crow replies:
We do things differently here
in the southern spring
a long winter fading
having taken its toll
hunger, loss
those who survived
knowing the choice
to live, to die
stand proud on the road
lock eyes
with the surprised driver
at least those who notice
then duck down hard
the chassis passing over
wind in feather, grip the road
tightly
think on the face
of the surprised driver
shock, guilt, anger
humans believe only they feel
they are wrong
our emotions burn just as brightly
they are life itself
we must remember this
to live
fly away quietly
remember the face of the surprised driver
emotions flashed
life in a moment
he will never know that he saved your life
with the spring reminder
of the terror
of the beauty
of the wonder of life
we do things differently here
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 983Just sorting out the gene pool. The average crow is smarter than that. Now if you were in the US...Did you know America is in the United States by the way? Yep it sure is...Anyway if you was there and you hit and killed a Crow you would be doing time for homicide...And I reckon there'd be some other mighty mean Indians in there with you...
And for poetry today;
Well whaddaya know
A stupid blirdy crow.

Around here it is usually squirrells and possums as we have too many. For an urban area, there are lots by the road. I saw a vulture snacking on one the other day, did a double take on that! Then a few days later, somebody had gotten a possum "double" !
Does anyone "aim" for squirrells? I catch myself leaning to! Never get the buggers on purpose, but on occasion by accident.
Strangest incident was as one was crossing and I on a motorcycle, he started that back and forth thing where they cannot decide which way to go. I held my line and slowed. C-bump. c-bump. another one down. Silly squirrell"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

No fun to run over small critters.
I was once driving at night on a small road on the northen part of my island, lots of rabbits there.
I got one caught paralyzed in my headlights and the girl next to me said to turn the lights of so it could jump away.
I did but when I turned them on again the whole road was full of them... was a silent drive home after that.Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.

Thanks Carl. I've always known that I love writing, but it has mostly been either academic capital-H History, or prose, with very very little poetry. And most of that has been pretty silly. However I'm starting to see why the form gets its hooks into writers. I like the challenge.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
