Thread: Anyone else an Air Gun shooter?

I used to have an AirForce Talon in .22 cal but had to sell it.

I have a lowly Gamo in 177 from back in the wooden stock days. MAN! I sure wish I had one like it when I was a kid!
McNasty with just one pump! Could not get a cheap scope to stay, so doing the iron sight thing.

Had it at the shop for a few weeks as-new. Big grackles crowing on top of that pole 50 feet out was too tempting!
Every feather represents one bird.



Took it home to thin the squirrel herd. Best hundred dollars I ever spent!

Have a Hatsan 125 in .22, like it a lot and use it for pest control and plinking.
Just like Sharptonn, have an issue with a scope. Can't sight it at all, going to my LGS to see if they can help. The iron sights are working well though.

My landlord borrowed mine and went out and got him one. 1000 FPS a scope and a SILENCER!
Guess they are legal on airguns?

Whispering death for pest. I shoot in the back yard and indoors all year long. No long trips out to the range and ammo is cheap!

I have a little Daisy Model #120 in .17 that all three of my kids learned to shoot with. Not the fanciest but it's accurate. Even thought it's against the law here to fire one within the city limits we shot in the backyard all the time.

We had 'pigeon problems' at work and my store manager would pay me to come in real early in the morning and pop as many as I could before customers would start to come in.

Man, that's the way to get the day started!

Now that we have some knowledgeable folks that actually know something about air rifles, I'd like to see if something that I was told many years ago is true.

I was told that due to the design and the way air rifles function that they needed an Air Rifle Specific Scope. I was told that you could put a $2000.00 Leopold that was meant for a standard firearm on an air rifle and it would be shook to death.

Something about the recoil being backwards on an air rifle.

Any thoughts?

That is only true for powerful springer air rifles because the recoil goes both directions.

Proud Marine Dad is right, Springers are the air guns that can destroy scopes, they do require a special "air gun" scope. PCP air guns use high pressure air for their power source and kick less than a .22 short you can use any scope you like. BTW the people at Leopold told me all their scopes are rated for air guns across the board. Freddie
