If you put those onions in a dry covered place with some ventilation for a week or so THEN top them they will keep quite awhile. The time allows the necks to shrink and seal the onion.
Around here they do it right in the fields but as I said it can be done well as described. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Got ambitious tonight and harvested my tobacco. Most of it anyway. Many smaller leaves yet but the flowers are pretty so I will enjoy them for a while. As a rough guess I figure 17 leaves per plant. 22 plants.
I wonder how that figure compared to an average crop....
I just raise it for fun but now I will have to look that up!

Thanked: 227Turns out I got 7 x 500ml bottles of cider from my apple haul. So 2 for my old man one to test carbonation in a couple of weeks and that leaves 4 [emoji23]

Hmmm let me see if I got this right--Your apple haul produced 7 500ml of cider and you are giving 2 to your old man so that leaves you with 2 bottles
I would have thought you would have ended up with 3 bottles. Oh well I went to Dayton Public Schools what do I know
Let us know how the taste test comes outOur house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 2277 bottles...
2 for old man.
1 to test for carbonation
4 left over....
That makes 7 [emoji23]
Took a sample for tasting it's quite dry but theres a definite apple taste. I figure a few weeks in the bottle should mellow it a touch, but it was tasty as was.

I see said the blind man to his deaf wife.
When I was kid there was a carbonated non alcoholic product called Apple Beer, it was a pretty good drink with a big apple taste. All of my kids love a sparkling cider and so do the grandkids they about put me in the poor house during our winter holidays.
I've tried buying the less expensive off brands but no go! This is the one they love!
