Well the tomatoes are plumping up nicely
There's a "ground cherry" plant that someone gave me in the spring. It's been super easy to grow, I basically stuck it in the ground and walked away. Making lots of little ground cherries now. I've had them before, they're really sweet. I think it's related to a tomatillo.
And we harvested a couple "Japanese fingerling" eggplants. Check out the double!

Thanked: 2591First tomatoes this season. Still waiting on the cucumbers to give fruit, and the peppers are coming along nicely.

Not really from the garden but a tree right next to the garden. I harvested some chokecherries, probably a bit early but I have some stiff competition from the birds or some other critters this year. As soon as the cherries are dark they disappear. Normally I would wait until they are a little darker but, oh well I enjoy the tart astringent taste anyways.
There are still many more on the tree so I will keep a close eye on them and hopefully get them before the critters do.
Here I am making chokecherry leather in the dehydrator. First I got the pits out, then a couple pulses in the food processor, then from thin strips on parchment paper into the dehydrator. I'll check them in a few hours and if they can hold together I'll slip them off the paper and straight on the rack to speed up drying. These are not everyone's favorite but I have a real taste for them!

I ended up with 8 strips of "leather", it worked very well. I think they taste great, but a little too tart for my wife. Next time I will consider adding something sweet like apples or pears perhaps. Here's four of them....

These are different - "lemon" cucumbers. Yellow and round kind of like a lemon but it's a cucumber. Good tasting ones too! We're growing them right alongside our regular cucumbers.

Thanked: 227Todays batch of fallen apples.
I think we are getting to the point where I can go picking. Hoping I can get a clear 10kg. See if I can't make me some cider.

Those look great, i hear it's a good year for apples, at least around where I live. I think it's because there was no freeze/frost to damage the early flowers in the spring? Or maybe the right amount of rain?
