Boi is going to have the most blinged-out John Deere MG ever!
Get it on! :D
Umm, that’s woodland, not John Deere green bro, :)
While the paints hardening up, cut some holes for the pedals.

I didn’t like the way they were set up originally so I’m moving them down and over to the left as much as I can. Maximize gas pedal clearance as there was none before.

Course I’m starting to ride the curve of the firewall, which is probably why the previous owner placed them more to the right. But I think I can build an offset plate to align them where I want.

Something more like this, note the brake pedal to frame position change. Much better.
Now I can build up the hydraulics for the brake and clutch before painting this up.

Cheers.
Took what might be the last, nice day off to get stuff done reshuffling the garage so I can get the extension down.
Calling for snow any day, and frost in the am now.

Yea, space is doable to still work, but cosy going forward. I have a bunch more to toss along the drivers side of the car, but the vw is full.

And this does look more harmonious for the neighbors. Besides I’m not 100% the shed actually would have survived a second CDN winter..
Now at least I have the stock to build my kid his kayak frame before the snow as well.
Don’t want those freezing to the ground or being in the way all winter either.
Cheers gents.
Cleaned off the crud, and swapped over the original fittings for the new gas tank level sender before installing it.

Also finished up the layout of the new pedal location and am going to paint up the hydraulic box this weekend.

I’m going to fabricate a front cover for the hydraulics as it’ll keep the shafts clean, and also give it a more factory finished look.
Then onto tying in the hydraulics all the way through the car, get actual working brakes again.
:tu
Moving along, made up the cover, in 18 gage steel. Not sure what was there originally, but this will work.

Air brush worked pretty good on the little stuff. Hardest thing was mixing up accurate proportions for 2 ozs of paint.
Not to worried that the finish shows a little age on under the bonnet stuff.
Will leave the heater on overnight to ensure this stuff flashes off.
Cure is slowing down as the temperature drops on the one stage paint.
Cheers gents.
Movember starts tomorrow!
Thanks
Back on the car to check fit one last time.

And I am delighted with the pedal placement now. Brake straddles the main beam, everything is square and true, and a good amount of room to fab and route the new accelerator roller.

Think I need to install the toe plates next to get that dialed in. Maybe even the floors before the weekend
They make little 7 ounce mixing cups ….marked with different mixing ratios…you can make just a wee bit. Use them a lot .
I should get some of those for the spring when I put her all together. Thanks.
Just in case there are shade variances I don’t know about until I get her in the sun.
Threw some hi temperature paint on the manifold hardware and brake fluid can and I’m putting all that together as I wait for yet another order of goodies I just put in tonight.
Turns out these Girling master cylinders are still very popular in the race circuit and I ordered all new seals for all three in the car. New lease on my hydraulics across the board just makes sense.

That girling fluid can cleaned up well enough to hold on for another 70 years now.
Love that it’s stamped on the lid and am going to clean those embossing up a bit I think.
Then carbs go on so I can get the throttle finished and finally see if I’ll still have interference with the bonnet from the carbs.

Moving right along. I will be up there next week for a ride. :nj
