Well a lil Father’s Day gift to me from Noddy.
Need to tighten down the oil system some as there’s a leak around the bypass, but the idle is good and things are coming together.

Turns out the oil leak was from above the spin on adapter which the car was converted too before my time happily. Stripped it down, cleaned out the crud from the sealing surface and reassembled. Didn’t see anything specifically wrong and the seals didn’t look bad so I will try again tomorrow. Need to buy another jug of Lucas 10w30 hi zinc to replace what was lost. MYbe I bumped it during the re and re without noticing and disturbed the seals.
So I didn’t get her up to operating temps today cause of the leaks, but did ball park the idle on the Mikuni’s. Way different than the SU’s, including the idle adjustments, but from the little I ran her, she seems very happy. These Mikuni’s are going to add a whole bunch of low end jump from all reports and the throttle response seemed very snappy!
She now idles and I can start to go over everything while she runs..
A great Father’s Day. Late lunch with my kids, mom, and sisters and their kids, then an evening of exhaust and sweet British putput in the garage! Long overdue too.

That MSD will make it happy too. Play around with that dist. Seat of the pants on final tune.
Record the setting with light when you have it like you like it. A baseline for the future.

I would run 15/40. Just me

    Oh...Happy Father's Day, Mike!

Been running 10-40 Lucas Hi Zinc….or 10-30 Zinc in my 67 GTO …and that’s what they had 50 years ago. Works fine.

Looks like fun time now !!

Outstanding Mike! Pretty soon you'll have that road worthy. It has been an experience watching from the teardown to the end of the restoration!
