This is Car stuff, hockey and sports bravado is down the hall.

It’s all good though. I’m always ok with a wandering thread. Nature abhors a straight line they say.
And regarding your post, I only can offer my perspective.
Canadian teams can’t afford top tier Canadian Players in the commercial NHL. Sad but true.
Now you want to talk purely about talent, let’s talk Olympic level hockey and who does what as a country.. Not in this particular thread mind you.
    Anyway, back to restoration stuff!
One last thing and I'm done hijacking. No matter where the teams are located, the majority of them are Canadian. That's quite a draw to be able to play professional hockey and live in Florida if you're not a fan of the cold... Just saying.
And now... Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Last warm front of the season possibly, tonight it’s 21’C, and in the am it’ll be 2’C. Windy and tornado warnings tonight to boot.
Great night to seal my frame I figure.

You my friend, are as bad as I am! I've got a couple of boxes of Nitrile gloves but I'll forget all about them and end up with hands painted the same color as my project

I think you win the understatement of the day - that looks fantastic!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Maybe i missed this part but did you sandblast or have to clean up all the rust before you coated it?

You are right, I skipped that part Tin.
Minimal blasting was needed actually. I did all around my weld repairs with my handheld unit and where the crossmembers meet with my larger unit. Both with a product called white lightning. Ferrous metal media too abrasive for the body panels but good for the frame..

Wire brushed everything else and used Por15s recommended degreaser, and then metal etch/rust neutralizer prior to applying the finish. Did the wash steps couple of times in fact.
Kept some of the metal prep cause I’m thinking I might dunk an old razor in it overnight, sort of like a neutra rust trial.
Por15 binds to and through surface rust really well, one of its selling features actually.

Next comes finishing the front bumper dumb iron alignment and reinforcement, plumbing the new brake lines, maybe a new fuel line Too, then rebuild the front suspension with the mgb upgrades.
Pretty happy everything survived the winds last night too!

Damn Mike. That's one hell of an intensive project. Can't wait to see it finished.

    Thanks Paul.
The project grew in scope, significantly from first envisioned, but all that I’m doing will make for a completely enjoyable finished product.
Trying to balance the desire to keep it looking it’s age, but behaving more modernly and reliably. No old car looks cool broken down at the side of the road, hehe.

Catching up here. Boy you are a brave dude, Mike! Looking good. I guess you know moving the motor forward changes a lot.
I seem to always be shoving them back.

On Lava soap. Some years back it was getting impossible to find. Going on the bay, I found 48 bar cases. I am on my 3rd case now.
I use it in the shower to get the gunk off the arms, hands, knees, etc. At the shop I use some locally sourced stuff that has teeny poly beads in it. Awesome stuff.

Shopped price and got the last case of Lava for 28 bucks . 'Institutional', smaller bars.

When it comes to cars, think you got me in the knowledge base Tom.
I’m pushing it forward cause I felt it was installed too far back when installed and hope by going lower, as I went forward, coupled with new mgb springs and the sway bar, she should tuck better, not worse.
If you were a betting man what are my odds of being right? No going back now, just curious.
I’m still behind the front cross member, so my fingers are crossed, hehe.
