Thanked: 13245I hear ya Tim
I am building low Hoop Tunnels so I don't have the same problem as last year, if I can have the starts in the garden on May 1st I will be happy
I think I have it figured out so that I can just tilt them out of the way on warmer days and drop them at night"No amount of money spent on a Stone can ever replace the value of the time it takes learning to use it properly"

Fun dilemma
These arrived in great shape from Roy less than 1/2 hour ago.
You have seen my soil temp.
Any thoughts? I know onions are hardy but should I hold them inside until the soil gets to 45'F or so?
At a minimum 100 in the bag so if a few die I still will be good to go...........
Thanks Roy!

I'm glad they landed in good shape. Get them out of the bag first thing, then let them warm to room temp and at the same time run some water to put them in, close to room temp would be good.
I 'think' you should see if you can plant a few and keep the rest in some potting soil and keep them cool but with some light.
When you go to actually plant them you don't want to plant them too deep, no deeper than the white part. Also you can plant them about 2" apart and as they grow you can pull every other one and use as a kind of green onion.
The local farmers start to pull them once they start to get about an inch in diameter. But once they get so big they stop pulling them and let them finish maturing to become dry onions.
Here's a couple of pics of 'salad onions' as they are known here in the valley--

Looks like my strawberry patch will pull through.
The area at the bottom left is where my damn mail 'persons' step on my plants to reach my mailbox. The regular guy won't do it but I've left notes on the mail box for the others to no avail. It's really bad when there's snow covering them
I decided to see if my sweet potato starts can be 'hardened up' so I can plant them. Only time will tell
