I've only been to 55 mph on my Cannondale road bike, That was downhill and I was spinning so fast that any more was unachievable at the time. Climbing and an occasional fall is my forte more so than speed. Maybe a straight razor shave while ironing could fill in the gaps for me. That's living on the edge.

[QUOTE=coully;179694]Ok i have read all the posts and have to agree with the bikers here. A wee bit of history. Im an immigrant to the USA from Scotland. I have owned a few bikes and one awesome car in my life and am putting a bike in my mind now.

    Bikes I have had...
1.Honda Transalp KT600V..lovely thumper trail bike.
    2.VFR750FM..another lovely sports/Tourer and thumper
    3.Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa..1999 Model unrestricted
    4.Honda Goldwing..nice bike for old men...not 30 somethings
5.Kawasaki ZXR750 (sold due to import laws here, emissions allegedly)

    Car....BMW 535 i Sport ( six cylinder)

Number 4 was my favourite and most comfortable due to its riding position and length...then the speed...fastest speed attained 195mph,

Imeant to say number 3 oops

Not the fastest I've ever driven, but the biggest adreneline rush had to be the time I was when I was a volunteer for the local Emergency Management.

I had just gotten home from work and a storm blew up, so I pulled my 88 Chevy Sportside (stick shift) into the front drive and turned on my Ham Radiio...while I was listening the weather service issued a tornado warning, and it was heading straight for our town. I called the EM director and he was out of town, so it was up to me to blow the sirens. It was raining cats and dogs when I left, which was only a few moments after the warning was issued, probably 5 minutes tops. I drove down the highway at 60-70 mph (45 speed limit), flashing my headlights and not able to see much of anything. I did make it, blew the sirens and the twister missed us, but that ride was a rush.

Talk about a kindred spirit. Same truck and state! I'm guessing you're not from Moore since you said it missed you

Hmmm... I think the fastest I've gone was around 170mph in a big Audi on the autobahn, but I wasn't driving. Weird thing is it didn't feel like we were going that fast. The fastest I've ever driven was in a small 1.9 liter diesel Opel station wagon. I got up to 145 mph on the autobahn, passing big Mercs and BMWs. I was still getting passed by Porsches and the like, but it was so funny to see some of the looks I'd get as I passed the bigger expensive cars.

The fastest I've driven here in the States was 125 mph in my Prelude when I was racing a Camaro down a long straight in backwoods Arkansas. I won the race, but realized how stupid I was afterwards. It was dark with woods on both sides. Deer run across that road regularly. If I would've hit a deer at that speed, I most likely would've died. I've never raced since then and have never gone over 90 since.

freebird mentioned a tornado earlier, and that was also one my biggest adrenaline rushes. We had a small F1 pass right over our house in SW arkansas a few years back. You could hear it coming and see the treetops going nuts. I don't think it had actually touched down yet, but it rattled the entire house and blew our french doors wide open. It definitely touched down a little further on because it tore apart a barn and some chicken houses.

You're right, I'm in Chouteau (40 miles East of Tulsa). Just far enough away that most of our storms arrive about midnight. Always fun trying to watch for twisters in the dark. Especialy when you've only one eye.
What color is your chevy? My 88 is brown.

I know where Chouteau is. Did you get much damage from that winter storm? I know Tulsa was pretty beat up.

I'm in Stillwater and we surprisingly didn't get much of it. On the subject of twisters, we've not had one around here in forever- I really don't understand how we dodge so many.

No, we were spared this time, did lose electricity for a few days, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the previous ice storm.

How long have you had your Chevy? I bought mine in 2001 from my employer. First thing I had to do was rebuild the motor, the delivery guys ran it out of oil a time or two. Which engine do you have? Mine has the 4.3 litre V-6.

I've had it since it was on the showroom floor in '90. It's got the 5.7 v8 with a manual transmission. I rebuilt the engine as few years ago, and now it's time to do the same with the transmission. For an almost 20 year old truck, it's done well.

I've been through the tranny twice lol. First time was due to age, reverse went out. The last time was a consequence of the first ice storm. Went to move it out from under a rather large chunk of ice that was threatening to slide off the shop roof and heard a loud BANG then nothing, a pin broke. About all I have left to do is upholstery and paint. I've got the stereo already lol. Pioneer head unit, four Infinity 2x4 plates, a 10" Infinity woofer and a 1000 watt amp.
