Icedog,
Never seen this thread before, can't compliment you enough about Basil. As you can see, I'm a big-time Pit lover...came onto the breed quite by accident...my daughter, then 19, purchased a pup and then being a typical 19 year old...I ended up being the dog sitter. My interaction with that dog brought me to a realization of what a wondeful breed these were...I've owned a lot of dogs in my time...I now have three Pitbulls and work with several organization in rescue efforts fo these dogs that unfortunately, due to people, ignorance and the media, (grand ignorance there), suffer above any other breed.
Your Basil is a wonderful dog and ambassador for the breed...compliments!Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

I can read this thread all day. As a dog and cat lover, and a big Pit advocate, it's one of my favorites on SRP.
Brad...I'll have to get in touch some time for a cabinet for my little dog Kacey. (30 pound aussie shep/beagle mix)

Wait, I thought Obie was taller, of a tanner complexion, and lived in Wisconsin?
Beautiful dogs, you all have... when I leave this college dorm and have a place of my own a nice Siamese cat and a Irish setter are first on the list of acquisitions...
I was recently introduced to an old friend's rescued pit bull, and it was the sweetest, best-behaved and most friendly dog I have ever met. Without being obnoxious or intrusive (think Labrador) it would follow you around, show affection, and was always full of vibrant but quiet energy... happy, sparkling eyes. Would I want to be around the dog when its 'trigger' was used? Heck no... muscle-filled little guy. But I now see that this breed has been horribly maligned, and is only so vicious because of aforementioned training.
