    Thanks!

If Basil's foot slips once while under strain, he shuts down for the day. Come to think of it, I've never seen a dog keep pulling once they lose traction. Usually, if a dog is a good puller, a smart puller, they understand the object and will work out their own strategy. Basil does better on snow than wheels. Not that he pulls more weight but he wins against the same dogs that may beat him on wheels. He has learned to back up to put slack in the tow line and get a running start to "hit" the sled and break it loose. On snow, the sled will stick to the track if the dog waits too long to get it moving.

Jack London wrote about a dog named Buck that won a bet for his master when he pulled from side to side to break the frozen sled's runners freen of the ice. Dogs can really surprise you now and then.

Change of plan. I have to cancel Basil's participation because I don't have the money. Being poor sucks.

One of these days he is going to get back at you for all of these shenanigans you have pulled on him! Thanks for the grin.

Cool dog. We've got a Gordon Setter, Jackson. He's a big goof, but does settle down from time to time.

Wow, that's an impressive-looking dog. How did Basil do in the Toddler Disfiguring event?

As long as people are posting pics of their dogs....ever since i was little i wanted a english bulldog. And i finally got around to getting one earlier this year...he just turned 6 months old and he is a brute to say the least. Not a mean bone in his body though

As the breed ambassador for the American Pit Bull Terrier, Basil obsesses about any competition. He gave it his best but I think his toddler was a bit larger than the others and I protested. As it turns out, dental records and DNA samples indicated that Basil's toddler was surreptisiously substituted with a dwarven pre-teen, a much stronger and more resilient subject altogether. Basil did his best. He adapted his mauling style and finished first in points, even though he was third in time by a mere twenty one hundreths of a second.

Geaux and Shory? your dogs are lovely and all but this thread is about My Dog Basil. Please note that it isn't necessarily about my dog Basil. It can be about anyone's dog so long as it is named Basil. There is another thread or two or perhaps five about any dog with any name.
