for re-hydrating there are a number of products. The little Al. disks doodads work for me refreshed with distilled water.

I notice there's many Stanwell fans. Such is fine by me they are great pipes.

Thanks for the link--- that gentleman's blend sounds pretty good

If you'd like to try some, you can order online from the Dewey Ave Smoke Shop (Dewey Ave Smokeshop). I happen to live in the area, so I go in person. I find they have a great selection of pipe tobaccos (not all are listed in the site, but I can scan the "menu"), and their pipe guy is great.

If anyone would prefer not to order online or wants to try less than an ounce, I'd be happy to drive over and put some tobacco in the mail (provided that the price of the tobacco and shipping are covered).

It would have probably been helpful if i mentioned that on hand I have captain's black cavendish, celtic morning, gent's blend, stonehenge, crown achievement, jesse's blend, lenny's own, blend 965, and ultimate blend; I could do smaller samples of any of these.

I could go for that but I'll check the site first maybe i'll pm you if i think i need your special offer. If you like 965 my taste is just a notch lower as it peaks out my spice threshold-- but i have never found a Virginia blend i like all that much. thanks again

I don't really like Virginia's all that much either; I find them to be overly woody in taste. There are a few exceptions though, like Lenny's and Ultimate; they both have a bit of Cavindish which I find makes them much tastier.

I like some Virginias as a break from English blends with Latakia. Have you tried any of these Virginias?

    McClelland’s Virginia # 24
    McClelland’s Christmas Cheer 2008
    Rattray’s Marlin Flake
    Rattray’s Hal O’ the Wynd
Esoterica Tobacciana’s Stonehaven (blended with Burley)

You can check reviews on these and others at: TobaccoReviews.com: Index

I recommend them in the summer, maybe with some of your favorite Red Wine.

Oh, gee, another of my acquisiton disorders. I have about 20 pipes. Peterson's are good and reasonably priced, I have a Rosslaire (with the amber stem) that is one of my favorites.

You can get as crazy about pipe smoking as about straight razors. I have a box of various tinned tobaccos aging on my bookcase. My tobacco vault.

I smoke a pipe on and off, but here I can not find any good tobbacconists. cigarettes are so cheap everybody smokes them!
In the UK I smoked a really great cherry vanilla tobacco - I don't remember the name - the tobbacconist recommended it.
At the moment I am stuck with Amphora - can't say I really like it - has anybody else tried it?

Where? Around here it's around $5-7 for a pack. I could have 2-3 ounces of pipe tobacco (blends at my local tobacco shop) for that.

I'm living in Poland where cigarettes are 7 PLN a pack - about 3 USD. Comparing that to where I'm from in the UK (about 5-6 GBP/9-10 USD) they are definately cheap!
My main problem isn't the cost but the availability. I used to roll cigarettes in the UK which was cheaper, but even finding good rolling tobacco is hard here.
I think I will just buy some nice tobacco from the UK, as I have no wish to spend money on trying out tobacco that may or may not be any good!
