I have a nice wool kilt made back when I was a piping student.One of the band members was a certified kiltmaker.I had scottish ancestry on Moms side,and Welsh on dads.My Stepdad who was in my life the most was from Glasgow and I really miss him RIP and my Mom.I decided to have my tartan Scottish National which looks alot like Blackwatch. I love the Scots as a whole anyway so this was my way of paying homage.I used to wear it a lot and I wear it like it was my only everyday garment.I've worked in it,worn it in a bar as a barback and pseudo bouncer,worn it as a front stage security at a local punk concert(that was fun,cooked in a kitchen wearing it (not recommended...too hot whew!) ,played in it,worn it casual dress and shoveled snow in it,and I even won a dollar from a fine group of ladies at my local bar once years ago whilst attired in it.......,you can make up your own details .I want it to get worn and weathered so when I'm old and hopefully retired someday I can wear it like and old sweater that's always faithful.I will probably be buried in it tattered edges and all. old sweater,thick hiking socks and my boots and kilt with my old flatcap.That's comfort baby and I love it in the cold weather.....AYE !!

I wore a mini-skirt to a (mostly Gay) party once, on a dare. How's that for confidence! Kilts would be a cinch compared to that!

Did ya get any hits ?! Knobby knees and all to I betYeah that's confidence if ever there were!

I gave all lookers the evil eye before they got to close, so no hits. It also helped that I turned up with a girlfriend. As for knobby knees, mate, I gotta say, I had the legs for it! I don't have knobbly knees. Some workmates who attended the party as well, convinced our boss to wear it at a work function. Now he had knobbly knees!

Might as well bump this one up. I kilt up whenever I can. I have several:

Ancient MacKay, family tartan, that I got married in
Black Watch, for hiking and such
MacLaren for Scouting events
Red Scott, for the Baltimore City Pipe Band (I'm an aspiring piper)
A Mountain Hardware Elkommando for hiking and such

I still want a utilikilt, but they are so damned expensive. Too much for something that would ideally just be replacing the summer shorts.

Sport Kilt offers a bit more affordable option Thanks to this post, I dug out my kilt today and just kind of lounged around the house in it. Very comfortable. My bride is a bit freaked out by "my skirt" but hey, it doesn't get more comfortable than this. I may have to invest in another kilt or two (oh no, KAD!!!). Wearing one to work on casual Friday would be a hoot.
