Winter leagues start next week. New bow to me. PSE Moneymaker. I have wanted to shoot one for a while and they are getting pretty reasonable in price. I have both the single and double cam setups for it. Right now it has the double cams on it. The setup is shooting bullet holes through paper with the 27/12's and is smooth and quiet. I am working on my grip and the draw length is slightly wrong but I don't need my handicap to be perfect at the beginning of the year!

    Good luck!

Switching over to winter mode I had to clean the dirt out of the allen screw holding the weights at the end of the stabilizer to remove one after using it on a different bow this summer.

Haven't been on this forum for a while, but good to see the archers are still active!

I haven't been able to shoot for a long time. Between injuries and life getting in the way my stuff just sits in the closet now and with winter and colder temps coming no way I will be going to the outdoor range any time soon!

    Hey folks,

New to the forum and still navigating around, but it's cool to see that knives and Bows are part of the addictions I share with the members here!
I started out in compound. I hunted about 4 seasons then it just fell off for me. About 4 years ago, I got the traditional bow bug, sold my compound and have loved it again ever since. Right now I'm switching between a Bear Kodiak circa 1972 and a horse bow that weighs about 1lb, has a 60lb pull and is fast as hell. Off the knuckles too!

I shoot a Bear 40# recurve, but haven't been able to get outside with it in a while. But the weather this weekend looks promising...

    Bump for a cool sport

I started shooting last summer. I have a PSE 'drive' 2014 model compound bow #55lb 26.5in draw. I started shooting every day after work and every weekend up until I could hit all my shots within a quarter size area at 10 yards and started even robbin hooded one. I haven't practiced all winter so I'll probably be a bit rusty in the spring. The furthest I've shot is 60 yards. I have a 2 by 2ft bag target and at that distance without a lens I found it hard to be accurate but hey, at least they were hitting.

It may sound weird...but if 'normal' aiming bow placement relative to your body is 9 o'clock(shooting across your chest) I prefer to shoot at 7-8...almost like im shooting back across myself. I'm pretty flexible and at that angle my body kind of locks/settles and I find my shot placement to be better and more consistent.

I went out deer hunting but unfortunately I didn't have the patience for it. I killed and skinned a woodchuck though; my first kill with a bow.

Some friends took me carp shooting once. I got 'buck fever' shooting at a carp as long as your arm. It was humiliating...end of my archery career. Definitely a cool sport!

My Wednesday team that I shot the Moneymaker with just finished tonight in 1st place.

My Friday night team that I have been shooting an Olympic recurve will finish this week also and we are going to be shooting off for first.

I am going to the state archery tournament this week end also.

It will be a busy archery week that has started off well!

With the weather being nicer I took out my Bear recurve and installed new silencers. I found a nice deal on some new arrows at a local sporting good store and picked up a dozen carbon arrows and some new broadheads.
I also discovered that a neighbor shoots as well and he has a target constantly set up in his (much larger than mine) yard...time to make a new friend!
