I went back to the bikes several years ago after becoming a grandpa - responsibility guilt kept me off for decades. I loved my career that required all my bits and pieces in full function mode don't you know. I finally returned to the road with a beautiful BMW K1200GT, but I found myself passing so many desert and mountain roads here in New Mexico so a few years ago I switched to a BMW R1200GS.

Started on a Moto Guzzi 1100i California then ended up on Harley Davidsons.

I bought myself a new jacket yesterday. Dainese Racing C2 in black. Very pleased!
Looking at leather jeans next, either the Dainese alien or pony (stupid name). I'd like a pair of short-cuffed gloves, too -- alpinestars have some nice ones that I've seen at good prices but I think that can wait for another time.

Hey all,
Mine's an '02 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic (say what you will about a wannabe Harley that rides like a half-ton, cageless Caddy).
I stick to two-lanes and national forests (why would I pay money to camp with other people? I own a tarp - haha), but my future SWMBO is pushing me to sell it.
The best rides are on empty highway (not freeway) with shade trees and the occasional fallen tree across the road, and the ones that take two or three weeks of FM road cruising with nothing but the wind, the pavement, and the motor as companions.

I had a 1999 Vulcan 1500...not my favorite out of bikes that I've owned, but it was a gift from SWMBO and I agree it was pretty comfy. The engine seemed absolutely gutless for a 1500 paired with a 4 speed though. Luckily I only had it about a year before a shift fork went and I was able to get rid of it with no consequences.

I put my sissy bar back on (minus the backrest, cause I ride 1 up) so I can strap on some luggage for summer trips this year. New handlebars on the way, but here she is now.

That might get a little toasty for the passenger...
