Several years ago, I attended the Celtic Celebration in Chatham New York. It was a wonderful weekend in celebration of all the Celtic nations. I met a very colorful individual by the name (or stage name) of Angus McPherson and upon entering his tent, Angus offered me a "wee dram". He served it in a quaich and it was without a doubt, the finest, smoothest whiskey (which Angus pronounced, w-HHIS-key) I've ever had. I meant to ask him the name of it but after several wee drams, it slipped my mind. Or my mind slipped it. Whatever, it was wonderful stuff.

My favorites are: Lagavulin 16, smooth, rich, peatty goodness with lots of smoke, hints of sea salt and great earthy essences. Ardbeg 10, a veritable smokehouse of a scotch. This is a peat monster with a loooooooonnnnng and lasting finish. Dalwhinnie, wonderful high notes, crisp, clean ethereal stuff. And MacAllan 18.... Oh, this one is round, sweet, complex stuff that is very easy on the palate for novices and Scotch aficionados alike.
I too love that Ardbeg! Like bacon in a glass

i like Pinch 15 or 30 year for scotch and Chivas both are good. I do like JD when mixing with coke or Crown and coke is even better. But I like my scotch on the rocks.

I have not had a good Scotch in awhile this thread makes me want to go get a bottle and sit back and just enjoy.

Pinch is good stuff. Go get a bottle and relax a bit.

Penderyn...Nothing like a good Welsh whiskey! However if I'm drinking 'whisky' I like a good Rye, but that's really a Bourbon rather than a whiskey or whisky.
