OK here we step the caliber down a bit with the .44 calibers. The top one is an 8" Colt Anaconda Hunter .44 Magnum. It is very accurate with the proper handloads. The next is a standard 6" Stainless Colt Anaconda .44 Magnum. The bottom one is a very nice 3" Model 720 Rossi .44 Special. Dirty Harry would have had one of these in his sock. The .44 Special is nothing to sneeze at with good strong handloads. All of these are a barrel of fun to shoot and I can shoot them all day.

Now we reduce the caliber even more to the ever popular .357 Magnum. This is a complete set of Colt Pythons in Bright Stainless [4'',6" and 8"]. The 8" Python is my most accurate open sight pistol. Enjoy.

2Sharp that Colt Python had to be one of the finest handguns ever made. I still regret selling my 6" bbl blue. It had a Colt custom shop action and was as smooth as silk.

I am betting that like me you are a fan of the late great Elmer Keith ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Oh yea about Elmer Keith. He was my hero back in the day. If I remember right he is the one who developed the .44 Magnum. I got Guns and Ammo Mag for several years when he was active. Also I haven't seen any smoother action than the Python. They should all be built like that one. I have been a wheelgun man ever since I used to watch Hopalong Cassidy on black and white TV when I was a kid. I guess that's why I collected so many over the years. Every gun I sold over the years I have regretted. I want them back.

I own a Smith & Wesson 696 (.44 SPL, 3in. Bbl). Here is a stock photo of it.

It's been stored for many years while I was on consective overseas tours. Living on a military installation now, I'm not keen to retrieve it. It will be a treat to have it and my other firearms in-hand when I retire.

Oh yea I like that. It is almost identical to my Rossi 720. Rossi probably stole the design. It feels good in your hand or pocket and you have a big bore for when you need it.

Yeah, I really like it too.

I used to have a Rossi 971 (I think was the model?) in .357 magnum, SS, with a 2.5 in. barrel. I really liked that one, but gave it up in my divorce.

My one and only wheel gun is a S&W 638 Bodyguard .38 special. Backed up with a 9.mm and .380m semi-auto. Backed up by a Mossberg 12 guage w/18" barrell. Yeah...knock before you enter!
