Thanked: 234That's a Blast isn't it? We never got many of those. I'd love an early Buell.
My bike doesn't actually look like that any more (though it did once) it's naked now after some one pulled out on me last year, does need some finishing off though.
You're gunna need a set of clip ons to complete the look, I think.
My bike actually had quite a similar idea to the Buells. The engine is the TDM850 (which you guys didn't get either I don't think) which is like a bike trailie type thing. The frame is a complete rip off of the Ducati 900ss frame. She's a really nice road bike. Not super powerful but enough for our speed camera infested roads.
Good luck with both your projects, look forward to seeing the finished articles!Last edited by gregs656; 03-27-2009 at 08:17 AM.

Thanked: 234Regular 'services' should keep you ticking over
I've ridden it's little brother, the XS650 - fantastic bikes. A lot of them get chopped here which is a bit of a shame I think, they looked good from the factory, bikes just don't look like that any more.
Totally off topic but I just had a shave after watching one of your videos, the comment you made about the knife against toast sound was very helpful.

Yup, good ol' Blast. I picked it up a couple months ago on the cheap. I'd love to get clip ons, but those will probably wait for a while. It's really funny how similar they are to some Ducati's.
I got it almost completed today with my custom intake, but I'm unfortunately having some carb issues now. It'll start cold and be fine until the auto-choke kicks off, then start to die. If I don't give it throttle, it dies. I don't think it has anything to do with the intake, but I've done a lot to the carb since the last time it ran, so who knows. The good news is, I can get the carb off the bike in about a minute if I need to.
I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them

Thanked: 234running lean because of the new intake perhaps?

I'm not sure. I tore it apart today and used almost a whole can of carb cleaner- hopefully there was just some blockage in one of the jets. I also think I may have been partially blocking the vacuum port in the carb, so I took care of that too. Hopefully that works, otherwise I'll have to assume my new intake is to blame. Here's the pic I promised.

Thanked: 234looking good, i've followed the Buell brand for a good couple of years now. Love their earlier bikes, the X1/M2 are especially appealing as they're really quite reliable, more so than the new fuel in frame efforts.
I'll have one one day! Enjoy here, keep it sunny side up!

Well, I think it was probably a dirty slow jet. I just hooked it all back up and made the proper adjustments and it's back on the road burning rubber and now bursting ear drums. All right
