5 grains of Bullseye behind a cast?!?! You got bigger %^&*( that I do. I run 4.7 behind lead. 5.0 only behind FMJ. I'm at work right now, but if I remember correctly, 5.3 is max for 230 FMJ's.
Conrgrats on the prize. Sounds like it's gonna be fried eggs and fried bologna for breakfast!

Thanked: 101No gas check. My normal load is 4.5gr Bullseye. 5.1gr. is Max for this bullet. 4.5gr is my "The Load" load for the .45. They shoot real well from 4.5 - 5gr.
Shoot this load from the 1911 and the G36 Glock....Next thing you guys are gonna tell me is you can't shoot cast bullets in Glocks...
The 1911 required a little scrubbing to clean. The Glock I could have wiped with a dry paper towel and it would've been clean. If the bullets are sized correctly (.452) and the lead is proper hardness (pure clip on wheel weights) and the load data is sensible (it is in this case) you won't have problems. Good lube helps too. I use a 50/50 mix of Moly axle grease and beeswax. Heated right below flashpoint, then mixed and poured into tubes for the lubesizer.Situational Awareness, Threat Assessment, Risk Management - Stay Alert, Stay alive

It's not that you 'can't' shoot lead thru a stock Glock barrel.....It's you 'shouldn't.' And it was nothing to do with reloads, as every manufacturer suggests not shooting reloads. Glock rifling isn't designed for FMJ. I've been thru Glock's armorer class, Instructors workshop and Advanced armorers class and this is stressed in all 3 courses. It is also stressed in the instructors workshop, the we stress this when teaching new Glock armorers.
That being said, IF, as you mentioned, the lead is hard enough (somewhere upwards of 30 on the brinell scale) you could get by, providing your barrel isn't shot out. But me? I only run FMJ's in my Glocks.

I've been known to run harder lead through my 19 and VP9 - on my IDPA loads. 3.2gr of titegroup behind a 147gr pill. I use a mortar sight taped to the frame to lob the rounds in . Typically I run bluebullets though, or Xtreme if I'm out of the blue stuff. When I do run lead, I just pull the barrel after each stage and run a brush and patch through to clean things up. I've been up to 200 consecutive rounds through a poly barrel without issues. Not saying anyone should; and my loads, as previously mentioned, are very light.
