Yes, I've shot .357 through it & its not something that I would want to put a box through.
I would not worry about the recoil difference, as this revolver is a close up weapon & you would be hard pressed to tell the difference in the .357 & 38+P should you have to use it in a situation.
In most post shooting interviews I've listened to firsthand, the shooter does not even remember hearing his firearm discharge & far more can't describe the recoil.

All going well I can apply for my FAC in about 6 months.

Late reply as I have not checked this thread for a while. I have carried for 38 years now and almost always IWB. Bought a Milt Sparks VMII a couple years ago for a 4" 1911 and it is by far the best IWB holster I ever had, ended up with three for 1911's, 3,4 & 5". Ended up selling the 3" to a friend when I sold him my 3" Raptor, that I replaced with a Wilson Stealth but the VMII in horsehide can't be beat, great holsters and the only holster that I know of that can be sold used for about the same price and in some cases more than a new one. You can expect about a two month wait for a new one when ordering.

Thanked: 4Two of my babies...
I also have a Ruger P90 blued and a Ruger 22/45 Target with the 5.5" barrel. Long guns are a Winchester 1300 12g with 28" and 18" barrels and an early 80's vintage Marlin Model 60 (pre-Freedom Group era) with the full 22" barrel.Last edited by donaldjr1969; 04-07-2016 at 12:19 AM. Very nice.. Made me go check on mine, they look similar.
Mine are used for whitetail, but hunt ground hogs with them in the off season, keeps me from getting rusty.
Top: Ruger Red Hawk 44 mag.
Bottom: S&W 41 mag.
Last is a S&W model 41 .22 cal.,w/ 4x Leupold
Used for fillin the freezer with squirrels.Mike
