With the barrel length measured from the front to the detach point of the stock it would be over 16 inches and should be considered a normal rifle - kind of like these.

I have read that the feds say a stock would make it a rifle and it must have at least a 16" barrel.
Yes, it is a novelty item and I'm not thinking about a stock right now. Maybe later.

I have a Browning Hi Power with the slot in the backstrap for a stock. If you buy one vintage with a stock it is legal, from what I've read, but if you own the pistol, and buy a stock separately you need the federal stamp.

Like the sawed off copy of the 'rifle' on Wanted Dead Or Alive, it is considered a handgun, but if you sawed one off yourself .......... you're toast.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Depends on the age of the pistol, whether it's an NFA firearm or not.

Also, regarding a 'sawed off shotgun'...the GCA has the verbiage of '...smooth bore...'

That's not the pic you posted, originally. You initially posted a 5" Gov't model length barrel.

Correct but he was going to add a 16" barrel to the 1911. Since I couldn't find a picture of a 1911 with a stock and a 16" barrel I showed this as a 1911 with carbine upper.

Got a few early christmas gifts a few weeks back.
XD mod 2 4in. 9mm so far put 150 rounds through. This is a pleasure to shoot.

Ruger AR556. Unfortunately I've had no time to take this one out. I have put a few magpul goodies on it. MOE SL hand guard and butt stock, Viking tactical 2 point sling and a UTG red/green dot. Looking at some range time next week, expecting good things from this budget AR.

Maybe santa will leave some ammo under the tree[emoji6] .

    Merry Christmas
    Phil
