Thread: How do you tie ties?

I wore ties a lot in my in the past but with the trend at work moving away from ties I rarely wear them these days. I voted, other because the knot depends on my mood and the collar.

I used to tie windsor and full windsor but find that the style these days seems to be leaning toward a sleeker knot. Using a 4 in hand more. Have you found the trends to change?

half windsor or 4 in hand, depending on situation and the tie. Never wear them, but wouldn't mind learning to tie a bow tie (just to know).

although I personally just automatically tie a double (="half" I guess) Windsor from my army cadet and office supply clerk days, I have consciously chosen to tie what looks to be a Kelvin from time to time. I think the 4-inhand is for unlettered chumps!
Thanks for the link! I'm gonna broaden my horizons.

I'd say 60% half-Windsor and 40% full, depending on the tie's material.

Thanked: 102The half has always worked for me as when I wear a tie it is usually with a medium point spread collar.
I have never mastered the art of the four in hand. I just can't get them to look good.

I don't own a tie.... or a suit. Just a lot of razors, hones, and a few bicycles.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
