I had a Montecristo on my deck last night, and it was good.
    A little cold though...

If you guys want to try a legal and full flavored cigar try the Olivia V series, I like them a lot.
How do you know you're getting real Cubans anyway? There's so much counterfeiting out there now its insane.

Cubans are legal in Norway. I bought my last batch trough a Government controlled tax-free shop.

Bands and packaging mean nothing, only a trusted source and one's palate does.

I'll have to try one of those out sometime; I've passed by them plenty of times at my local cigar lounge, but never tried them.

As for counterfeiting that isn't even the half of it...some will claim that a tobacco was grown from Cuban seed or even call it Cuban tobacco, but in reality it will have been grown from a ninth generation seed that was brought to America or another country from Cuba and planted on that country's soil and has been grown that way for many years. They'll claim it's Cuban, but as soon as you plant it in a different soil, climate, etc. it will start to take on some of the characteristics of tobacco grown in that area. So while it may still be a seed from Cuba or a seed from a plant from a seed of another plant etc etc and is fifth generation in another country it's not the same.

The only time I've ever had a real genuine Cuban was when a certain relative of mine who works for a branch of the military somehow got to go to Cuba and brought back a box of the Cuban made Romeo y Julieta's (not the ones made in the Dominican for American consumption). However I hadn't developed much of a pallet yet when it came to cigars as I was young and had maybe only had two or three cigars ever before that (which would have been Phillies or Swishers). I do remember that it was good tobacco though since a. I smoked the whole thing and b. it didn't give me a headache.

I recently got to try my first couple of Casa Magnas. I like the Oscuros a lot and the Colorados aren't bad either, but not as peppery as the Oscuros. Had a CAO event recently too and I must say the rep. they sent out (I think he goes by the name Strohm or something similar) was very knowledgeable compared to some of the other manufacturer reps I've talked with FWIW.

If you like a good kick to your cigars try them out, you shouldn't be disappointed. You get a really big "yeahhhhh babyyyy" moment when you exhale through the nose, but they're not stupid strong or simple, they have a nice complexity. They have a really nice oily wrapper too, I was very happy with my box.

Still haven't tried the V, but if you do like your cigars to have a kick, Disburden, then give the Casa Magna Oscuro a try. It is great and peppery.

Or the Flying Pig by Drew Estate, but that is REALLY oily and whatever you do, do NOT get the smoke in your eyes. A friend did that accidentally and his eye was red for three days.

I haven't yet tried the Java, but have heard that since that is made for Rocky Patel, Drew Estate's equivalent is the Tabak Especial. Which I had tried and it is pretty good. If you really want the coffee flavor to shine through get the lighter one, it's coffee flavor is less overpowered by the tobacco. Also, if you like the Java, check out the Isla Del Sol, another coffee infused one by Drew Estate.

Actually had my first Oliva the other night, a Serie O and sadly I was not too impressed, not a bad cigar by any means just not quite what I like. Had some wonderful undertones for about the first third or so but just didn't seem to agree with me from there on out. I won't let that stop me from giving some of the other Olivas a try though.

I agree, the O Maduro is a great smoke, but just not for me. I've actually been having a lot of fun pulling all the random sticks I've picked up in swaps (mostly at SRP meets/Joe's/Lynn's) and trying out loads of different stuff. I've been finding I tend to prefer medium to mild cigars, at least at this point in my "career."
