Thanked: 36Oops, I just ordered a couple more cigars. I was going to wait a week or two but I failed. I ordered a chess maduro robusto and a hawk robusto with natural filler and maduro wrapper. I think chess make both and the company's owned by a norwegian guy. I'm not sure how available they are outside Norway. Made in the dominican republic. I'll try to get some photos up when they get here. I might even include some of my "humidor", my "cutter" and my "ash tray". You'll be shocked, ha ha.
I was looking at cutters. I don't think I fully understand why people choose one type over another. I know it has to do with draw but I don't have enough experience to have any preference. Does anyone here use a V cutter?

Thanked: 36Interesting. I never came across them when I was living the uk, but then I never looked for them in the uk. I did look at cigars from time to time, they've fascinated me for years but I never smoked one until about about a month ago. Under what circumstances would you choose a V cutter over a guillotine or a punch cutter? Sorry if that's a really basic question, I'm just starting out.

There is no rule, when use one cutter type or another.
Try and look, when the cigar flavor is better for you: after guillotine or punch cutter, or, maybe, after V-cutter.
....don't use V-cutter for Torpedo, Pyramid and Perfecto cigars shapes.Alex Ts.

Thanked: 4206Guillotine all the way!
Cut just before the radius gets to max dia to allow for max flavour and minimum tobacco/tooth drama.
i.e. leave a little taper to your gar.
For smaller smokes I use my leatherman to V them. I find the right V knocks the heat down by forcing a bit of a cross mix at the tip.
YMMV though.
Happing huffing.

I use a combine cutter: guillotine and V-cutter.
