I've "aged" some, but not very many. It's tough to let them sit around especially if they're good. Now that I'm into this "shaving thing", my cigar purchases have suffered some.

A H. Upmann Sir Winston from a 2003 box bought at LCDH Partagas factory. Is there a better standard production Cuban cigar - I doubt it. Fantastic pleasure from Vuelta Abajo

I have been wanting to pick up a box of Diplomaticos #2 for a while now. I take it they agree with you. Diplomaticos is a sub brand of Montiecristo made for the French market (or was it Spanish). Basically a Montie #2 at $50 a box less.
Tonight it is a Romeo Y Julieta Viejo for me

You are correct that Diplomaticos was a sort of sub brand of Montecristo, it was introduced in 1966 as a less expencive alternative to the famous Montecristo brand, initially targeting the French market. But at least today the blend between a Montecristo No. 2 and a Diplomaticos No.2 is different. While Monte 2 is a "mass produced" cigar with some great boxes and some not so great, Diplo 2 is a minor brand with very low production and a more consistent blend. The Diplomaticos No. 2 I have smoked has been very complex and quite strong, at least as strong as recent Montecristo No. 2`s. The construction has been excellent, and the cigar quite complex. The last one I smoked was from a 2007 box, good already, but with expected further improvement in the future.
Tonight I will smoke a Partagas Serie P No. 2 from a SVF ENE 2005 box.
